Mary Hoyer and Her Dolls by Mary Hoyer

This is a fabulous reference book for Mary Hoyer doll collectors. It includes the history of the company and many price lists, copies of vintage advertisements, photos of dolls/clothing. It is also a great resource for doll collectors who like to knit, crochet, or sew outfits for their 14 inch 1950's dolls. The vintage MH clothes seem to generally fit Alexander's Maggie, Toni P-90 dolls, etc. The size can be scaled down by about 5% for the clothes to fit the modern Mary Hoyer dolls, who are 13" tall, or other dolls about their size. This book is out of print but is available occasionally on ebay. There is a hard copy and soft copy version. An easy way to spot the difference is the front of the dust cover for the hard copy features a picture of the Mary Hoyer "Southern Belle" complete with matching parasol. The soft cover book has a photo of a doll in ice skates and a knit or crochet (I can't tell) skating outfit. I bought this specific soft cover book because it is in such good condition and was a good price. I have a copy of the hard cover book but I have just about worn it out.
