Marked by Kristin Cast, P. C. Cast (2007, Paperback)

I just finished Twilight and needed a new book sseries to read and I came across the Marked series so I had to buy the first two books. I am a big vampire reader but I dont like anything to scary so this book was just right for me.

I heard about the book from a friend who loved this other vampire book I had read so I figured I could trust her taste in books. I read a chapter of it on there website, and was hooked. I starts a little confusing because they talk like you should know what they talking about and should know what they mean, but later they explain what things are and you understand whats going on. I loved the story it was more youthful. There was some bad language in it and a little perverted.

I bought this book because a friend told me the series was a great read. Being someone that loves to read vampire books i looked into it before i bought it. The plot seemed good, but reviews were mixed. So, i decided i would purchase this book for cheap off ebay...if i liked it then the price would be a steal and if not then no regrets because the book was so cheap.
The book itself took a while for me to get into. The plot was good, but it wasnt my favorite writing style. I didnt like how cliche the author made the teenagers in the book...it was almost annoying. The book got better towards the end, but was a bit predictable. I have to admit that i got sucked into it though. Yes the characters were cliche but at the same time it seemed more realistic that way. The book made me want to know what happens next, since they leave you hanging. This book has a bit of vulgar language as well as sexual references, which make it a little more fun to read.
Overall the book took a little getting used to but in the end i enjoyed it. I recomend it for an easy read and i cant wait to read the rest of the series.

Did not like this series, probably geared more towards very young teens. Purchased the set as per the recommended reading list from other book reviews elsewhere. As I havent been a teenager for 15 years, I thought it odd. The books.... Language nuances are horrible. People talk like that? Plot was okay, a bit light and rough around the edges, Native American folklore was a refreshing twist, and certainly welcome, although how much could be called folklore or writer perogitive is hard to judge. Some of the characters are actually quite endearing, if you can make it that far. Some should get hit by a bus, as nobody would miss them. And these are some of the main characters. If you are older than 15 or 16, probably should miss this set of books unless you like to be annoyed. Also, strangely uncomfortable with the fact that mom and daughter are writing these together, as I am pretty sure I would have a hell of a time writing a sex scene with either of my parents. Odd.

If you like vampire books, such as Twilight and Vampire Academy, you will love the House of Night series.

I heard the series was good, the first book( marked) is the one I read and it started out really really slow and it just wasnt what I thought it was, but because I did read the first one, I do want to read the rest of the series just to see where the characters end up and maybe the books will get better and better, this book series is really based for teens not for adults, thats just my opinion. Oh and if you are a Twilight Lover these books dont give you that fix, nothing like the twilight series.

This book is the first in a series entitled "The House of Night". The beginning starts out just a little slow, but by the time you are halfway through the book, you are completely involved with the story, the plot and the characters. I love this series, and have found it to be an easy likable reading experience. I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys mystery, vampires and the paranormal!

A friend told me they were excellent and I have to agree. I like everything about the book and never got bored w/it.

I took an extended weekend to read all 5 books...WELL worth my time. It puts a new spin on the vampire story w/a witch twist. I REALLY, REALLY want a 6th book (don't know if one is planned), but if there is one, I'll be one of the 1st to buy it!

In Marked: Zoey finds out that although she may have been an outcast & usually felt alone; she comes to a place that starts to accept her & she begins to feel at home. [Really wasn't going for a rhythm here, just happened] She learns that she's special even more than originally thought & that the Goddess is behind & guiding her. Great beginning to the series totally drew me in, hence my being able to read them all so fast!

I like this book. Nothing can compare to the "Twilight" series but this is the first series since that has come close. The characters in this series are excellent and well written. The descriptions of the places and events exceeded my expectations. Anyone who loves a good vampire book will love this series. I have chosen to buy this series to add to my collection so I can read it anytime I want.

I started the book yesterday, it's not as interesting or exciting as I was hoping, but I'm still forcing myself to read it.

I was afriad that I wouldn't like it, but honestly I couldn't put it down, I took it to work with me and read it a paragraph at a time! Love it!

I bought MARKED a few weeks ago, and it was an okay read. DEFINATELY not as good as Twilight, but it was a good book.

Story about a girl who becomes a vampire and goes to live in the HOUSe OF NIGHT where she will learn to actually "be" a vampire. Has some what of a romantic twist to it, but once again its NO TWILIGHT!!!

I loved the whole series. I can't wait for the next book. I bought this as the 1st in a series. Easy to read. Down to earth characters. Stimulating plot. New vampires must attend a boarding school (like Hogwarts for wizards), where they learn about their kind. Where anything and everything happens!

I picked it up...was hooked!! Good reading for all ages. It makes you want to continue reading the rest of the series.
