  mario tennis is tough
Review created: 12/29/08

The graphics, sound and setup are very similar to mario golf. Game play is quite a bit tougher though. Logical since tennis is a faster moving sport than golf.

Disappointed that no instructions were included.

The game was fine, but we had to purchase the instructions from Nintendo. I don't remember being told that there were no instructions when I bid on the item. My mistake.

A great sports game with a twist.

This game has been one of my favorites ever since I first got it a few years ago. It's a tennis game which is in itself odd, as you normally see football or baseball, and twists it around a little by adding in classic Mario characters like The Mario Bros., Wario and Waluigi, Yoshi, and the like. I'd recommend this game to anyone who hasn't played it.

One more Italian, and we'd have a soccer team

Pros:
Different options, adaptable for playing style

Cons:
Aces are difficult to find, stuff is too well hidden, music needs to be turned off, and I look like a giant monkey (just seeing if you actually read this part)

(A copy of this game was provided to me by Nintendo of America) Now, any idiot could make a ton of money with a mascot. Just slap the mascot in everything you do, and watch it roll in. But does this make the product any good? No, and if the product sucks, then your mascot will lose all potence. So they have to be at least decent, or the mascot won't be around much longer. This brings us to Mario, who by now has almost transcended Nintendo to become the official mascot of all of video gaming. That thought is enough to make some lawyers check copyright laws in panic, but he's still safe. And he.

Can't wait for Dance Dance Mario and Mario RTS...
Review created: 05/05/01
by: xeno3998 -- a member of Epinions

Pros:
Gameplay feels a lot like Virtua Tennis

Cons:
Not nearly as much fun as Sega's excellent Tennis title

Nintendo has, over the last few years, taken the liberty to license the Mario name to any and all game genres that it can imagine Nintendo characters starring in. From the delightful Mario RPG on SNES to the downright terrible Mario Party series, Nintendo's cutesy mascots have taken over almost every inch of the games industry and aren't showing any signs of slowing down. This of course, is why Mario Tennis ever got release - to slap the Mario (read: Nintendo) characters to a generic tennis gameplay engine, throw in some crappy special modes and push it unwillingly onto retail shelves so...

Pros:
Great fun, easy to learn and you will play it for hours, esp. multiplayer

Cons:
too bloody addictive! some crappy players

Those ubiquitous Italians Mario and Luigi seem to be popping their cartoony little heads up everywhere at the moment. Not content with Super Mario 12 on the SNES, or a dodgy little movie and, further, about 6 different games on the Nintendo 64, they ve now gone ahead and done not only a golf game but a tennis one too. Now, it may seem a rather amusing concept, strangely accoutred Italians, monsters and weirdos having it out on the grassy greens, but believe me, once you start you just can t stop. A bit like opening a can of Pringles, really. This is one of the perfect party games. In fact, so.

  Is Mario Infallible?
Review created: 03/16/02
by: kalizam -- a member of Epinions

Pros:
16 Characters, Lots of Courts, Great Gameplay

Cons:
Too much to do with too little reward

Wouldn't it be great just to go into a store, look at the video game selection, and without ever doing any research on the game, pick it up and know that it was great? Really, that's what the Mario series has become known for. Every Mario game from Donkey Kong Arcade up to the recent Super Smash Bros. Melee has been excellent, and has been widely enjoyed by all. Mario has even been able to do quite the impossible: he's not associated with Nintendo's child image. Anyway, Mario Tennis follows in this respect. Taking the characters from our plumber's universe, it pits them in nearly every way...

  Mario, you've done it again!
Review created: 05/16/02
by: byrnie -- a member of Epinions

Pros:
Great graphics, fun to play.

Cons:
None.<BR/>

Mario, you ve done I again. It seems that Mario has made his comeback since the Smash hit of Mario 64 and Mario Cart. And this time he s out on the tennis court. Mario Tennis is a fun, exciting game that never has a dull moment. The game has many features, including a great Multiplayer section, special fun games, and tournaments. Modes Exhibition. This is where it all begins. In the Exhibition mode, you have a choice of player, choice of your opponent s skill, and choice of court. I would recommend Luigie as a player, he seems to be the best. Then you choose your opponent. You can...
