Description
The fourth installment of the wildly selling four-player party game walks the same path that the previous titles did, banking on the power of 50 totally new mini-games and vastly improved graphics to do the selling. Four people trek their way around an interactive game board and indulge in a wide variety of mini-games after each turn. Instead of points, you earn coins, which allow you to buy stars if you land on the correct space. The player with the most stars and coins wins. As for the very important mini-game challenges, they range from free-for-alls, to 1v3, to 2v2 matches. There are five totally new game boards available from the get-go, ranging from haunted Boo-themed environments to the tropical Koopa's Seaside Soiree.

A little disappointed in this Mario Party Game.

      Mario Party 4 (Gamecube)

I've read a ton of reviews for all the Mario Party games and was really excited when Mario Party 4 was finally available to rent at my local video store.

I was expecting something along the lines of Fusion Frenzy for the Xbox. Mario Party 4 doesn't even come close.

I was extremely dissapointed with the fact that you have to unlock all the mini-games before you can play them with friends.

Single player story mode is extremely boring, and is borderline stupid. I didn't enjoy single player mode at all. Especially when it came down to playing on a team with the computer (The computer sucks sometimes and is awesome at other times)

The mini-games are fun, but this game loses replay value quickly, which shouldn't be the case with a multi-player orientated game.

      Pros:
      - Tons of Mini-games
      - Tons of unlockables (even though I'm not happy about that)
      - Fair cast of characters
      - Basketball mini-game

      Cons:
      - Have to unlock mini-games to play them
      - Story mode is ridiculous
      - Bores you into a coma after about 3 days

      Final Verdict:

      3/5

Rent or Buy?: Rental. This game doesn't deliver. If you're a fan of Mario games you might really enjoy this game. But it just doesn't do it for me. My recommendation, rent it first and see if you still enjoy it after a week.

obviously, this game is meant to be multiplayer. The single player mode is rather boring. The games are fun and many of them are unique to Mario Party 4 easy controls and great fun with multiplayer.
