I have 10 Nintendo DS games. I can say without a doubt, that this game is the best game in my collection. There are many of the classic Mario Kart tracks that you can race on. There are also many new tracks that are very creative. You can race with your friends by linking up your Nintendo DS. Maybe your friends haven't bought this game yet? No problem. This game has Single Card multiplayer. That means that other Nintendo DS's can play using one Mario Kart DS game-card. You can also play using the Multi Card multiplayer. That means that people can play Mario Kart DS against each other without having to use the Nintendo DS Download Play. It is better because with multi card play the other opponents can choose the chracter to play with. Also, with Single Card Play, it takes a few moments for the other DS to download the game from the other DS that has the game. If that isn't enough, you can connect at a Wi-Fi hotspot to play using Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection Service. This service is free. There are NO monthly charges or anything. If you don't want to use a hotspot, you can use a WiFi router or you can buy a Nintendo DS USB WiFi Connector which is specially designed for the Nintendo DS. I have a WiFi router and it works great with the Nintendo DS. When you connect to the Connection Service it sends you to the Main Lobby. There you can choose whether you want to play Worldwide, Regional, Friends, or Rivals. In Worldwide play, you can play with anyone in the world that is connected. With Regional, it connects you with players in your region of the world. In Friends mode, it connects you with people that are on your Friend's Roster. In Rivals Mode, it connects you with players that have similar stats to you. After the Connection Service matches you with other players, you go to the Track List. In the Track list, there is a list of tracks that you can race on. Each player has one vote on where they want to race. There are a lot of tracks that are available in the Wi-Fi multiplayer game. If there is a tie or everyone choose a different track, the Connection Service randomly chooses a track to race on.
Mario Kart DS has other things to offer. More than just multiplayer racing. In Mario Kart DS there is a Mission Mode. In the Mission Mode, you have to perform different tasks. The tasks get harder and harder as you go along.
Also there is a Grand Prix Mode in this game. In that mode, there are three kart classes. 50cc, 100cc, and 150cc karts. There are many events for the karts to complete. If you do well enough in the events you can unlock other chracters or karts.
There is also a Ballon Battle Mode. In this mode you try to pop your opponents ballons before they pop your ballons. The last one with ballons wins. This mode involves the built-in microphone feature. You blow into the mic to inflate your ballons if an opponent manages to pop one of yours.
Bottom Line: This is the best game for the Nintendo DS so far.

If you remember Mario Kart and you love the game not you can play it on your DS. Great game. You rate you launch stuff at you opponents. You can play online. It is portable. What can you hate about this. Oh yeah i hate it when when i launch something it backfires.

Mario Kart DS is the BEST EVER Nintendo DS game ever! Its really awesome its by far the best in the series. The "Snakeing" Feature in the game is soooo great you can really annoy people who cheat on the game with it. Wifi on Mario kart is the best!

The game is in excellent condition with directions and exactly as described. My daughter is happy that she finally has another Mario Kart because someone stole her other one. My son likes to look at the different settings, and compete with other players. He also likes to "shop" the different karts.

Its great when you first put it in but the game doesn't really progress and keep you from turning it off. You just do the same things over and over and after you finish a series, you just start a new series. You should buy it if your internet lets you connect your ds (unlike mine) or if you have a friend you can play against.

I like the game because it has the classic style of gameplay as the nintendo 64 mario kart. Better graphics and great selection of stages. Great online play.

This is one of the best games if not THE best game for DS! It has a lot of content to keep you busy for a long time! It has a great cast of characters and a wide range of vehicles to choose from too. Mario Kart for the DS is one of the most amazing games of all time. I was always told if you own a DS or plan on owning one, Mario Kart DS is a MUST HAVE! This is definitely true! Not only are there many different and interesting solo races, challenges, and missions, but there is also two player capabilities and online opportunities to play people across the world. The nintendo characters have been pulled from many Mario games and are able to use the kart you desire. Mario Kart DS is amazingly awesome (if that makes sense).

I like the fact that it has different courses from all different game systems and it has fun new Karts for all characters. The only thing I don't like about this game is that the Staff Records in Time Trials mode are hard to beat.

The game was brand new just like expected. My son loves it.Very good value. The reason I bought it cause it is a easy game for my son to play plus he can play with his cousin.

one of the mission levels doesn't work, a few of the grand prixs don't work, and a few of the individual tracks don't work on certain CC levels. Lame

my sons wanted it to play eachother. their friends had mario kart and they could only play while at school sitting next to the other one that had mario kart,, now they have it at home and can play it together

It seems just like yesterday when the original Mario Kart made its debut on the SNES in 1992. The game was a hit back then, and it isn't difficult to understand why. A racing game that emphasizes on sabotaging your opponents with weapons like banana skins, flying shells and lightning bolts was almost unheard of then, and to do so with your favorite Nintendo characters was, quite simply, pure bliss. Not surprisingly, the game captured the hearts of many gamers then.

Fast forward to the year 2005. Fans of the series have seen a few sequels through the years, but the DS version of Mario Kart was greeted with much more anticipation than its predecessors. The main reason, obviously, is the game's inclusion of integrated online play. For the first time in Mario Kart's history, gamers can now take on players from all over the world as long as they're using a wireless router that is supported by Nintendo. The game also allows up to eight players to multiplay in close proximity with only one copy of the cartridge, which essentially means that a gamer who decides not to buy the game can still perform a download play and race against a friend who owns a cartridge.

Of course, to enjoy the other features in Mario Kart DS, you'll still have to purchase the game, especially when you're interested in taking on the single-player campaign. As with previous instalments, Mario Kart DS has a grand prix mode, which comprises of four races each that are span across eight different competitions. This means a total of 32 tracks for your racing pleasure. 16 of these tracks are brand new, but the rest consists of classic ones from previous renditions of Mario Kart. These include the Moo Moo Farm from N64, Peach Circuit from the GBA and even the original Mario Circuit from the SNES. These will no doubt bring much joy for Mario Kart fans.

Yet, even in the presence of the classic tracks, the newer tracks do not pale in comparison. The innovative minds at Nintendo have once again developed a series of circuits that are visually stunning, mildly challenging and always entertaining. You'll get to race through a pinball machine, a clock and even an airship fortress! The combination of both old and new tracks is indeed a masterstroke that allows you to engage new challenges, as well as indulge in some nostalgia.

Mario Kart DS also has a mission mode that requires you to perform a series of tasks within a certain time limit. These include collecting a designated number of coins, passing through a series of numbered gates in sequence, and even hitting specified enemies with specified weapons. The missions are divided into "worlds", and each world various stages. Completing all stages in a world will unlock a "boss fight", which could involve winning in a race against the boss, or even to knock him out from a platform. Defeating a boss unlocks the next world, up to a maximum of six worlds and a total of 54 missions. Obviously, the missions get tougher as the game progresses, but they aren't exactly impossible to complete. Gamers who enjoy more than merely racing should find the mission mode in Mario Kart DS a fun and captivating feature. Also their are more features.

Excellent game keeps even 6 years occupied for hours - my 8 year also enjoys great game for kids. This DS is a great inventio - unfortunetly kids stay inside these days
