Mario Kart DS (Nintendo DS, 2005)

I have 10 Nintendo DS games. I can say without a doubt, that this game is the best game in my collection. There are many of the classic Mario Kart tracks that you can race on. There are also many new tracks that are very creative. You can race with your friends by linking up your Nintendo DS. Maybe your friends haven't bought this game yet? No problem. This game has Single Card multiplayer. That means that other Nintendo DS's can play using one Mario Kart DS game-card. You can also play using the Multi Card multiplayer. That means that people can play Mario Kart DS against each other without having to use the Nintendo DS Download Play. It is better because with multi card play the other opponents can choose the chracter to play with. Also, with Single Card Play, it takes a few moments for the other DS to download the game from the other DS that has the game. If that isn't enough, you can connect at a Wi-Fi hotspot to play using Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection Service. This service is free. There are NO monthly charges or anything. If you don't want to use a hotspot, you can use a WiFi router or you can buy a Nintendo DS USB WiFi Connector which is specially designed for the Nintendo DS. I have a WiFi router and it works great with the Nintendo DS. When you connect to the Connection Service it sends you to the Main Lobby. There you can choose whether you want to play Worldwide, Regional, Friends, or Rivals. In Worldwide play, you can play with anyone in the world that is connected. With Regional, it connects you with players in your region of the world. In Friends mode, it connects you with people that are on your Friend's Roster. In Rivals Mode, it connects you with players that have similar stats to you. After the Connection Service matches you with other players, you go to the Track List. In the Track list, there is a list of tracks that you can race on. Each player has one vote on where they want to race. There are a lot of tracks that are available in the Wi-Fi multiplayer game. If there is a tie or everyone choose a different track, the Connection Service randomly chooses a track to race on.
Mario Kart DS has other things to offer. More than just multiplayer racing. In Mario Kart DS there is a Mission Mode. In the Mission Mode, you have to perform different tasks. The tasks get harder and harder as you go along.
Also there is a Grand Prix Mode in this game. In that mode, there are three kart classes. 50cc, 100cc, and 150cc karts. There are many events for the karts to complete. If you do well enough in the events you can unlock other chracters or karts.
There is also a Ballon Battle Mode. In this mode you try to pop your opponents ballons before they pop your ballons. The last one with ballons wins. This mode involves the built-in microphone feature. You blow into the mic to inflate your ballons if an opponent manages to pop one of yours.
Bottom Line: This is the best game for the Nintendo DS so far.

This game is awesome because it kills time! You can play the game with people who HAVE the game and those who DO NOT have the game. This is what makes Mario Kart such a unique game. On long plane rides, you can challenge those who brought their Nintendo DS lites or your family members. So for those who are wondering if it will work for those who don't have the game, it does!

The game consist of 3 speeds, 50cc, 100cc, and 150cc. 50 is the slowest and easiest and 150 is the fastest and the computers are harder. After beating and unlocking some of the characters and karts, there is one more called 150cc Mirror where you have to play ALL the maps again but backwards! This is another new function that was very fun to play.

All in all, if you love racing games like Donkey Kong racing and etc, you'll love Mario Kart DS because it just won't get boring. There are tons of combinations with different characters and different karts to play with and you can play with ANYONE who has a Nintendo DS. Last but not least, you can even draw a design and it will be on your own personal kart!

If is incredibly, i have not set down my DS for about 6 hours, i am playing it while it is charging becuase MARIO KART DS is that great.

This is the best Mario Kart game ever made, and that's saying a lot! It's got over 30 tracks, with many you'll remember (if you played Mario Kart in the past), new items, plenty of unlockables, great graphics, but the biggest addition has to be online play.

Getting a game going is quick and easy (if you have a high speed wireless internet connection) and after you start playing, you'll be hooked.

If you like racing games, or if you like Mario games, well, if you own a DS, you owe it to yourself to buy this game!

Mario Kart DS is so AWESOME online. It is so easy to use with my router and Nintendo is second to none for offering world-wide play for FREE. It is so cool to chat with world-wide players. We have set up a racing circuit, in the friend mode, with people we met by chance. We enjoy racing them and chatting, so now they are our FRIENDS, and are easily located. You only need one DS cartridge to play against family members, that gets a High 5 for Nintendo, from this family. This racing game is fun for kids as well as the kid in all of us, who like great family entertainment. There are over 30 courses, and you can be anyone of 8 characters. The characters are a riot, their antics are amuzing. This game utilizes the special features of the DS system very well, I can see why Nintendo promoted this game with a DS system. If I had only one game to play on my DS, this would be the game. Nintendo has created a great gaming system, and future games will only enhance what an AWESOME system and value, the DS is.

Mario Kart is back and just as great as you would expect.If you remember the snes and n64 versions of this game then you will remember the great multi player fun.I think that this and Animal Crossing are the two best games on the Nintendo DS and both would be great purchases.Also ROB the robot is in this and that just plain awesome.

It has great graphics, addictive gameplay, beautiful music, wide range of characters and vehicles, many goodies to be unlocked and a great multi-player system! This game is a challenge for experienced players, and still great fun for beginners. The different levels of play make it fun for all ages. It has 16 new tracks, plus 16 retro tracks from the SNES, N64, Gamecube, and Gameboy!

Mario Kart DS represents a significant step forward for Nintendo's much-loved racing series, and not only because it's the first to feature online play. If you have numerous friends who have DS's, then MarioKart is the game to play. No matter what Mario Kart is a timeless clasic, and to be able to play it wi-fi with friends is increible.

If you remember Mario Kart and you love the game not you can play it on your DS. Great game. You rate you launch stuff at you opponents. You can play online. It is portable. What can you hate about this. Oh yeah i hate it when when i launch something it backfires.

Another of the great games comes to Nintendo DS, and this is another one you must own. Rev up your engines, prepare your shells and bananas, it's Mario Kart time!

Choose your racer and get ready for a rip-roaring, good time. Enjoy your leisure stroll down memory lane in some of the old tracks you may remember from your younger days, or look at all the new sites on some of the new tracks just for the DS. That is, of course, til you get slammed with a red shell, or trip over that banana you laid on your last go around.

You have to play the single player game to get used to the tracks as well as unlock various drivers and other features. But to me, the real fun lies in challenging your friends in person or via the games Wi-Fi capabilities. You gotta love the fact that you can beat someone in another country, or get creamed by then, depending on your driving skills. Of course doing the battle maps with some friends with DS's is fun as well, and you can spend hours doing just that.

I recommend this game for all DS owners, and especially those who remember playing various installments of this game on other systems. A truly great game, and one that anyone can enjoy.

Just remember, in those harder races, those computer drivers play to win. If your in the lead on that last lap, expect your best friend, the blue shell, to give you a good time!

It's true, believe the hype, this game takes you through new and classic tracks, and it's a blast. Hard to belive while playing one player, your opponents are pretty difficult at times, which is good for replay value. The ultimate is when you go online through wi-fi, which does not charge any fees. It's time to race!

This was the second game that I got for my DS, because my brother had it and I was quickly hooked.

After buying the game, it only took me about a week and a half to beat it, but I still have problems with 150 Mirror, and I find it challenging to link with my friends. Though I have never tried WiFi, I use the wireless feature to race with my brother and his friends.

All in all, this game is highly satisfying, especially if you have a need for speed, or Mario!

Bought for son after other son received for Christmas. They absolutely love connecting and playing this game. The levels are challenging, but attainable. Great fun.

this game is the most fun youll ever have. I would recommend it to any child and my teenager even enjoys it. If you think the wifi will make it unsafe for a child , nintendo is really cautious about that stuff and your not allowed to play with anyone twice (in less your have their friend codes) also theirs no chatting. Only thing I beware you of is cheap games , you think your getting a great deal.Well these games are often fake and could possibly give your ds a virus. Ebay is the biggest marketplace of these fake games , however look for items with actual pictures not stock photos , also I would not trust any foreign countries because their known for copying the games mostly.
