A private woman in remarkable times...

I loved this book on Marie Antoinette because it touched base on Marie Antoinette herself. It also touched base on her relations with her husband, children, her mother the Empress of Austria, and her friends and courtiers. Though it did cover the flight to Varennes, her & the royal family imprisoned, and the politics of the day, it also touched on her personal taste and style which came to identify her to this day. I like how the author separated fact from fiction, and makes it easy for the reader to identify with Marie Antoinette, the woman and the constrictions and etiquette that hampered her life. After reading this book I found it easy to understand why Marie Antoinette was such a private woman and why she was so misunderstood during the 18th century. A great book! I couldn't put it down!
