The Margaret Rudkin Pepperidge Farm Cookbook

The wonderful thing about this cookbook is that it's also a history book...Margaret wrote about life in an Irish, small, lower income home in New York, and tells with great warmth of the days when washing day took all day, making Grandmother's home made corned beef and toasting thick slices of bread over the fire, using a toasting fork. Each chapter of her life preceeds a chapter full of easy, old time recipes. As she grows older, and marries, the recipes reflect her life on a working farm. Then, it's on to Pepperidge Farm baked goods, the land of frosted cakes and beautiful, fragrant breads that we all know & love. It might not be a "GO-TO" cookbook for everyday, but it's a great treasury of recipes from scratch that you can make on a cold winter day. I liked it!
