The Man in the Moon (DVD, 2009, Spa Cash)

This movie is a beautifuuly rendered coming of age tale. On a farm outside a small Louisiana town in the 1950s, 14 year old Dani (Reese Witherspoon in her first movie) wonders if she will ever be as pretty and popular as her 17 year old sister Maureen. This becomes especially important as Dani is beginning to notice boys, particlularly Court, the 17 year old young man she meets when swimming. Although Dani and Maureen have always been especially close, a rift develops between the sisters after Court meets Maureen. Intelligently written, excellent direction, lovely cinematography, and exceptional acting make this a particularily worthwhile and entertaining film.

Reese Witherspoon in her first theatrical release was amazing! She was so believeable in the role of Dani! I can see why she turned out so great! Very sweet movie about young love!

I have alwyas loved this movie & was sure my Daughter (10 yrs old) would also love it so I bought it for her for a Christmas gift & she loves it too!

I loved this Movie. Reese Witherspoon is great! I first saw the movie when it first came out on VHS years ago. I saw that a friend had it on DVD and have wanted to see it again. I think it is a great coming into movie.

If you like Reese Witherspoon, you will love this movie. She can't be any older than 12 or 13 when this movie was filmed but you can tell she would go on to become a great actress. I enjoyed it enough to see it once, maybe not so much a classic but watchable.

I had tried to rent this movie at different video stores in town and coundn't find it so i went to ebay to buy it. It was right there and i got it quickly. I love this movie and now i can watch it any time I want.

When I first saw this movie a long time ago, Reese Witherspoon was an unknown. When I realized that it was Reese in the movie I bought the movie and watched it again .... great movie. The young Reese is fantastic .. the movie is a classic that I'll pull out and watch again and again.

Any collaborative work, including a movie of surpassing excellence, demands a great script and an equally great ensemble cast. I cannot think of any film that qualifies by those standards better than this one. Sam Waterston, Tess Harper, Gail Strickland, Jason London and Emily Warfield are perfectly tuned into their roles. And the performance of a young Reese Witherspoon puts the lie to the old saw that youth is wasted on the young. Her range and grasp simply exceed anything you might expect of a 14-year-old who plays a 14-year-old. This film is so well done, so memorable. Sit yourself down and enjoy.

This is an excellent movie about young love, life and the tragedies that are endured. Reese Witherspoon was wonderful in her role and it can be seen how good an actress she was and became. This also shows the hardships that farm families must endure. It's an excellent movie that deserved accolades that it didn't receive...and, it's worth seeing...if for Reese Witherspoon's performance if nothing else. I love this movie!!!

Reese Witherspoon's first film. This is the reason we all love her now. A beautiful story of first loves and the special relationship between sisters. This is in the top ten list of my all-time favorite films and I can't imagine anyone watching this and not loving it but beware, this is a definite 3 hanky film!(grab that box of Kleenex)

I like old movies and a friend ask me if I had seen this one because I like Reese Witherspoon. He said it is a must see movie. Great Acting, My wife thought the movie was great also. I would recommend this file to anyone that like older movies.

This was a sweet movie of love, friendship, tragedy and survival. I have always loved Sam and Tess. Reece was terrific in what I believe to be her first major role.

We got this for our teenage granddaughter. Reese is a great actor and this was one of her first movies. A good reminder of what we ALL went through.

My mom sat me down when I was about 13 at watch this movie... and I just had to record it. That was 15 years ago and that tape is not so good anymore so I had to buy it on dvd. I still have to watch it with a box of tissues and its still one of my favorite movies to this day!
