Like the TV show it's pulled from, the music on this collection is clever, upbeat and smart-alecky. They Might Be Giants set the quirky tone with their choppy, ska-flavored "Boss of Me" and the cleverly sublime "Older." From here, plenty of power-pop moments abound, from Stroke 9's punky "Washin' + Wonderin'," to Barenaked Ladies' irresistibly catchy "Falling for the First Time."
Other notable names checking in are Eagle-Eye Cherry (the sweetly dream-like "Been Here Once Before"), Travis (the Beatles-esque absurdity "We Are Monkeys"), and Screamin' Cheetah Wheelies (a hellacious cover of Dr. John's "Right Place, Wrong Time").
