I love this book! this is the closest that i've been able to get thus far to the japanese clothing style. the most that im' interested in is the yukata, hakama and kimono. i love the toe socks as well.
it's true that i have to draw out my own patterns with the guidlines in the book, but i don't mind that so much. others may find it anoying.
the instructions are pretty simple and easy to follow, but i'm a fair seamstress, thoguh i believe that a beginner and a novice will be able to follow the instructions just as easily.
definitely a wonderful find and buy. a treasure in my library! Otaku will love it!

) This is not a book for beginning sewers, nor for someone who wants authentic Japanese clothes. As the book subtitle says, the clothes are somewhat modified for every-day wear. But, it is great for what it is. And it does definitely teach you how to make patterns that will fit you perfectly. I was familiar with the book, so I knew what I was buying, and I am completely delighted with it.
