Platinum Weird: Erin Grace (vocals); Dave Stewart (guitar); Noel Chambers (piano, organ, Mellotron); Matthew Sugarman (bass instrument); Brian Parfitt, Ringo Starr (drums).A collaborative effort between Eurythmics guitarist Dave Stewart and singer Kara DioGuardi, Platinum Weird was created as a faux-1970s band, and turned into the subject of a VH1 mockumentary. MAKE BELIEVE presents wispy, Fleetwood Mac-like songs penned by Stewart and his fictional muse, Erin Grace (voiced by DioGuardi), including the wistful "Will You Be Around" and the gentle, folk-tinged "Happiness." While the group has little in common with the Eurythmics, fans of '70s folk-rock--not to mention Christopher Guest-style music spoofs--will be thoroughly entertained.
