Major League Baseball 2K8 (Wii, 548605446)

I've been playing it almost nonstop since I got it. The biggest complaint I would have is the lack of response from some of the controls (sliding is a constant challenge, wall climbs are cumbersome, diving catches are difficult). Some of the characters are incredibly detailed, especially for anything on the Wi. Any casual gamer into baseball would like this game, most definitely, but if you're expecting rocket science and extraordinarily high graphic quality, look elsewhere.

This is seriously the best baseball game that I have played. The Wii experience is different then any other and with this game you are right in the action with your in-game involvement. It might take some time to master the controls, but if you get it down in a day and there isn't a challenge then what is the game really worth???

Fun to play with my kids and a good way for them to learn how baseball really works with field play, positioning, and rules since it is hard to get them to watch a game on TV and explain it to them.

You won't be disappointed if you buy this game if you own a Wii!!!

This game lets you control the pitching, hitting, fielding and base running of the players on your team. There are multi player, single player and online game modes. You can play the games or run simulations if you are more interested in the team/player management aspects of the game.

Playing does require some dexterity to handle all of the controls. The base running has been the most difficult for me to grasp. However, if you like baseball, you will love this game.

Great Game .. a must have if you like MLB ... Realistic but batting can sometimes be a bit sketchy the Wii tries to determine swings but sometimes even a check swing is recorded as a swing .. other then that ..not a bad game

I was rather doubtful about how this game would be for the Wii platform. I must admit that I am pleasantly surprised at how great this game is done. The fact that it takes two hands to pitch and bat is good for the kids! It keeps them busy. I like the tutorials that the game goes through to show you have to pitch and hit. Makes the game more enjoyable if you know how to get the most out of the game.

The graphics are nicely done, as well as the use of the WiiMote.

I recommend this game for people of all ages.

I've been playing this game for about 8 of the last 24hours, mostly because it's such a pleasant surprise. The game's best feature is its use of the motion control technology. If your measure of a Wii game includes effective, extensive use of the wiimote, you'll be very pleased with this title. And, if you're not into motion control...well, why didn't you get an Xbox to begin with?!

I think this is a great game. There are many things you can do....play a game against the computer or a human, have a home run derby. My favorite part is the selection of players. Not only do you have today's overpriced stars, but there is a Cooperstown section where you can field a team of greats from the past. Granted not every HOF'er is in there (no Babe, Lou Gehrig, Willie Mays, etc.), but there are still many greats.
The game plays perfectly and isn't "easy", you still need to have timing to hit the ball, just like in a real game.
The only complaint about this game is that I have yet to beat my son in a game, but still hours of fun!

This game has the most enjoyable hitting interface on the Wii. You "swing" or "flick" the Wiimote and get sort of the feel of being a Major Leaguer. This game is sort of a home run derby, as it seems most logical to aim your nunchuk up for deep flyballs (i.e. homers). I hit back-to-back dingers off Brandon Webb of the D-Backs after he had shut me out for 5 innings and was relieved that he was finally getting "tired." The pitching controls are pinpoint and don't take much time to set up. I seem to have pretty good control with most pitchers I throw so I'm not sure how accurate this interface really is. The fielding is a bit sloppy, as I've flipped balls from shortstop to second base and vice versa to start double plays, only to find that the fielder didn't catch the ball. I've also had another of my fielders run over me as I was trying to cover first base. Therefore, I give this an average rating for its slop. Overall, it is a fun game. Of course, this is based on less than 20 games played via single player. I don't know what two player is like, so this is really a partial review.

Game play is easy for everyone. Easy to use controls, real time game play and authentic players and teams make MLB 2K8 fun for any baseball fan.
This 2008 version is, however, prone to errors and faults and I have noticed menu navigation problems and points where the game has frozen up.
Overall, fun and easy to play - the 2009 version needs to fix all of the technical problems.

I like how you can move your players to catch the ball and all of that good stuff. Its a lot better and more complicated then the wii version, but more fun once you get the hang of it.

Its so fun, I ask the kids to play baseball...they say "ok, I'll get the Disk!!" vs. getting their bat and ball like old school...

Awesome game as close to real baseball as I've seen. Very realistic batting mode with the wii remote. Pitching mode is great too, the catcher actually calls the pitches and pitch locations (you can overide him but they usually make good calls). Easy to use in game menus to mangae youre bullpen and other substitutions. You can even send the pitching coach out to settle down a rattled pitcher. Overall a great easy to learn game.

Nice game play, slightly above graphic average on Wii Platform, like the fact you can use the remote to swing in batting and throw to base. Does not allow for online play or update roster

this game is awesome, great gameplay. I have played other baseball games on the wii, none of which caught me like this.

This is a great game. A lot better than the Wii Sports baseball. You get the same play as for other systems, but with the Wii you get to swing the bat like you're really in the game

This program works very well on the Wii. We enjoy swinging the bat. The graphics are pretty good for playing on the Wii. The player rosters are updated. The game is a lot of fun to play with the Wii hand units. The software has great commentary while playing. If you have a Wii I say it definitely worth getting.

Great quality, feels like you're actually there. Always a fun time with this game! Cheaper price than you would find in stores, but the same product. Another great find on eBay!

Game play was better than the bigs for Wii, it more "Real" play and is fun and pitching was easier too.. over all great game

I don't play many video games so I may not be the best person to submit a review. I've read other reviews where the Wii graphics are supposedly 'substandard'. I was very impressed with the graphics on this game especially the details of the various stadiums. Game play is good, as with most Wii games it takes a bit getting used to the remote and its functions. The play by play offered by ESPN's Jon Miller and Joe Morgan is a great addition to the game. And I normally can't stand listening to them call a game! The commentary adds a lot to the realistic feel to the game.

Its a fun game. I dont know how it compares to other games on other systems but I like it and feel I got my money's worth.

I thought that this game was an excellent buy. I love the game and have been playing it almost daily. The controls that use the Wiimote and nunchuck took a little getting used to, but I found that the motions are very close to real life. Some of my struggles were, on defense once the ball was hit my guys would dive or jump, causing me to not make a lot of plays. Just any sudden jerk or movement of the Wiimote or nunchuck would cause players to do such. This can be frustrating at times, especially in close games. The only other issue I have had is swinging. Sometimes just hitching before a swing would cause the batter to just swing, obviously way to early. It is also very hard to judge where the ball will end up on a pitch so I find myself swinging at pitches in the dirt a lot. Timing tends to be a bit rough as well, but that can be adjusted in the options.

Even with those issues I do find that this game was an excellent buy for my money and couldn't have been happier with the purchase!

I received the game when promised and without any confusion. Fun game to play with my seven year old and easy to understand. Very life like when you play the game. Definately recommend this game if you like baseball. Major League Baseball 2K8.

Family loves the game! Purchased for my teen daughter and the whole family has taken up baseball now! lol
