A Great Showcase of Diana Ross and Billy Dee Williams

After their brilliant pairing in "Lady Sings the Blues," Diana Ross and Billy Dee Williams were re-united in this movie which emphasizes both their talents. Diana sings "Do You Know Where You're Going To" and models fabulous clothes like a supermodel, and Billy Dee Williams seeks her company and tries to get elected in Chicago.
The fundamental theme of this movie is that it is lonely at the top. But when Tracy Chambers (Diana Ross) is down and out in Chicago and barely making ends meet, seeking a career designing clothes looks like a winner. She is peddling her designs while working as a secretary to Miss Evans (Nina Foch) in a Chicago department store when the movie starts. She meets Brian Walker (Billy Dee Williams) while he is campaigning for alderman and is attracted to him. But NOTHING is going to stop her from pursuing her dream.
Enter Sean Mc Avoy (Anthony Perkins), who rescues Tracy from her secretarial job and invites her to Rome, Italy to begin a career as a model. As the movie proceeds, he becomes as psychotic as his role in "Psycho." Enter Christian (Jean Pierre Aumont), who again saves Tracy and gives her the chance to design and model.
This movie is big on modeling and clothes, which do not seem out of fashion even now. The credits to the movie list Diana Ross for designing all the clothes in the movie.
Also the theme song resonates throughout. It was nominated for an Oscar in 1975.
If you love Diana Ross especially or love clothes and fashion, this movie is for you. You will especially enjoy the ending.
