Movie Description
The story of Orson Welles and his 1942 film THE MAGNIFICENT AMBERSONS is one of Hollywood's most intriguing and mysterious soap operas. The legendary filmmaker's completed film was drastically re-edited by its studio, RKO Pictures, prompting a battle which raged for years and created decades of speculation among film enthusiasts and scholars. Finally, in 2001, the cable channel A & E took Orson Welles' original shooting script and realized it in this lavish production, directed by the acclaimed Mexican auteur Alfonso Arau (LIKE WATER FOR CHOCOLATE.) 60 years after its original production, Welles' vision has finally been allowed to shine through.
