The Magnavox ZV450MW8 DVD Recorder / VCR Combo is the perfect way to overcome both of these concerns! Digital converter boxes do not! This machine allows users to pre-program and record multiple channels on either a VHS tape or a DVD RW to be played back at your convenience and can be recorded over multiple times. The picture quality is nearly perfect with a few exceptions. Most of the signal problems have been addressed and is not the fault of the ZV450MW8. If you look at this as an investment and you purchase the equipment (ZV450MW8 ~ $100/Good antenna ~ $75/ VHS tapes or DVD RW ~ $25) your initial investment is around $200. The vast majority of cable/dish services run around $20/month. Your return on investment is less than a year! It is worth it!
