Cole--with lush backing by the London Symphony Orchestra, which is a heck of a band--tackles mostly traditional Christmas standards here. In the great tradition of her Grammy winning mega-hit "Unforgettable," she duets from beyond the grave here with her father Nat "King" Cole (on his signature "Christmas Song") and regardless of what you think of the gimmick itself, it's still a pleasure to hear the elder Cole's ultra-sophisticated vocal. The younger Cole, meanwhile, acquits herself well throughout, singing with almost classical purity on the likes of "Hark the Herald Angels Sing," demonstrating a surprisingly good German accent on "O Tannenbaum," and swinging up a storm on "Sleighride."
