Magellan eXplorist 300

I recieved this as a gift and intially fell in love with it. But after using it a bit, I found it was a middle of the road GPS unit. It fits nicely in the palm of your hand and is rather durable as all of the eXplorist models are. This unit is not rechargable, and has a battery life of around 18 hours. It comes ready to roll, with only a few minutes needed to set it up. I found after using it while driving, it will sort of stray off the actual highways you are driving on, so I think the accuracy is not quite what they claim. You can zoom in quite a bit, and I think it gets down to 250 foot intervals on the screen. It has an orange backlight that works pretty well. The buttons and 'joystick' button are pretty easy to use and are quite easy to navigate with. It also is a portable weather unit of sorts. Tracks barometric pressure and temp. All in all it is a fair entry level unit, but if you are looking for something more that has downloads available this is not the unit to buy. Look up a few models; the 400, 500 and 600 models. I used this unit for 6 months and gave it to my father because he likes gadgets like this. I had to download and print off the manual for him, and it was 80 some pages long!! The manual is pretty easy to follow and like I said once you get it set up, and use it a little bit, it is easy to use.
