A decent product, but not quite state of the art

The Maestro 3225 has sleek, slim styling, and is easy to operate; it has intuitive choice selections for optional settings which are easy to operate. The price is quite good, particularly when compared to the latest models.
But... the maps preloaded on the 3225 are outdated. I have lived in this subdivision for 7 1/2 years yet the street I live on, the street leading into the subdivision, and indeed the county road which leads to a small village named after it are all unknown on the preloaded map. When I did some checking I discovered that if the map was "version 31 or earlier" it should be updated. The version preloaded was 29, so I ordered the new map. $80 for the map on one CD, plus $25 for shipping (how can it cost Magellan $25 to ship one CD?) And why don't they offer it online for download at a reduced price? And further, why don't they offer a coupon to cut the cost of the first map upgrade if used within 30 days of registering the product? To me, these are definitely deficiencies that ought to be addressed.
By the time I have purchased the GPS unit and the updates, I will have about $375 invested - still less than a brand new unit, but hardly the bargain it first appeared to be when offered for sale.
