Tyler Perry (DIARY OF A MAD BLACK WOMAN) does it again with this touching comedy based on his play of the same name. Madea (Perry) is a gun-toting grandma who gives new meaning to tough love. She is preparing to host a long-awaited family reunion, during which she also plans to marry off her 16-year-old granddaughter. When Madea hears that her sister has just died, she overcomes her initial dismay--her sister still owes her 20 bucks--to add a funeral to the weekend's itinerary, in a truly impressive show of frugality and efficiency. Madness, of course, ensues, as well as valuable lessons about life, friendship, and the meaning of family. Co-starring are Boris Kodjoe (SOUL FOOD), Jennifer Lewis (DEAD PRESIDENTS), Tangi Miller (FELICITY), Blair Underwood (LAX), and Henry Simmons (TAXI).

Tyler Perry's wildly popular touring gospel musicals have taken the country by storm, and his character Madea, a pistol-toting grandmother (played by Perry), has become a hilarious voice for, of all things, strong Christian family values. Filmed in New Orleans in 2002, this release features a live theatrical performance of MADEA'S FAMILY REUNION, in which Madea takes in a foster child and uses every ounce of her courage and strength to keep her family together. This release was the inspiration for the Lion's Gate film of the same name, and is a perfect showcase for the lively, witty, and intimate brilliance of Tyler Perry.
