  Give or Take
Review created: 11/10/09

I have already seriously considered pawning this game and getting an earlier version. The presentation is unbelievable, however, I had to turn off the commentary after 2 days due to repitition. Custom soundtracks are a lie, you can only reorder the in-game tracks which are better than ever, but still not great. You can't save and quit in the middle of a game. Big plays are worse than ever no one can catch up to one another even when they have better rated speed. Running the ball is almost as hard as passing the ball on anything other than a crossing route. The controls have been reworked and are not only hard to adjust to, but the confuguration is unchangable. I bought this game because I wanted the new rosters, but I won't buy a game before I have played it again. They have removed the "gameplan"aspect and training camp, which in my opinion were 2 of the finer points of this franchise. There is so much wrong with this game I can scarcely remember all of it. The instant replay feature is shorter than ever, and unsavable. On several occasions the football has passed through a defenders hand or head for a completion. This game does not compare to the 08 madden. Coaching options are minimal, subs must be done in game and on the clock. They didn't change the "incomplete pass instead of a sack or a fumble or grounding" aspect which is terrible. I have had opposing QB's throw away when I clearly had a sack. They changed too many things at once and not the bad things they kept the worst features and glitches and got rid of the best ones. I will pawn this edition and buy last years or 2008. I saw very little improvement in actual gameplay. The presentation is better, but that accounts for a very small percentage of the game. the menu music has to be muted because only a handful of tracks are any good. This game is a frightful disappointment and not worth the amount of money I paid. I expect more from the most popular franchise. The inaccurate officiating has caused me to quit more games than I have finished, if I stop the ball carrier a yard short of the first down marker and he is awarded the first down anyway I will restart the game on principle alone. As usual play challenges are useless and difficulty settings only dumb down your players i.e. DB's dropping interceptions and opposing D-linemen intercepting tipped passes. The gamers QB invariably gets sacked instead of throwing an incompletion at the last second unlike the CPU QB. This edition is for the most part a huge step in the wrong direction. This game is nothing like it's predecessors and doesn't have the EA sports feel. In writing this review, I have more or less talked my self into pawning this game, the new 09 rosters are hardly worth hearing the same menu tracks over and over or listening to cris colinsworth for an hour at a time. My ears have no where to hide. If this is what Madden has to offer I think I might shop around for a better NFL video game. Don't buy this game if you like Madden there will be no end to your complaining and no onw will listen, trust me. Play an older version for another year and rent Madden 11 before you buy it just in case. I plan to get Madden 08 since they have yet to improve on it. Playability and gameplay is far superior even on the original XBOX version, if all they can offer is better graphics and presentation, I will go with the better game play at least I won't pull my hair out after playing for an hour. This game was all hype.

  New version of Madden
Review created: 11/03/09

For Madden 10, Ea Sports decided to make it more realistic for the NFL fan. The new features are fight for the fumble, better graphics, larger range of stats, Presentation, gang tackling, how to handle injuries, and co op online. However some features have been toned down. Superstar mode is very basic. All you pretty much do now is play the games. You can't practice to increase depth chart spot, no movie deals, etc. Franchise mode still lacks depth. In my opinion, I would like to see better create a stadium, be able to hire QB coaches etc, be able to fire coach during the year, and just make the role of the GM / Owner more important. I would also like to see the Owner Mode back with setting ticket prices(be able to set season and game tickets). Well back to what's in the game. Free Agency is better but still needs improvement. The draft and scouting took a step back this year. The ratings in Madden aren't good and some should be fixed(roster update). The main thing I do not like about this version is you have to buy stuff online(PS3 network or Xbox live). Just more cost. I think it's just an average Madden.

Graphics - 9/10 need to make it better in snow and rain
Presentation - 8/10 better but halftime show you can't skip
Modes(franchise / superstar) - 3.5/10
AI - 5/10
Overall - 6.5/10

  Madden NFL 10 (Xbox 360)
Review created: 11/25/09

Let's start on a positive note. This is the best looking Madden game yet. From the look of players on the field to new presentational elements, you've never seen a football game like this before. EA Sports has gone to great lengths to make the experience of playing a standard game of Madden as close to the real thing as possible and it shows. You'll see players getting yelled at on the sidelines, refs debating touchdown calls, and pre-game warm ups on the field with a bit of insight from Tom Hammond and Chris Colinsworth. It's all very conducive to convincing you that you're totally in control of a standard NFL football broadcast on Sunday. Yes, I'm even talking about the constant Snickers and Sprint sponsorships that pop up at certain times during a contest.

  Madden NFL 2010
Review created: 10/17/09

Madden NFL 2010 is now out and is available in stores now! Madden 10 is the most high-tech advanced NFL video game available now for purchase. The game is complete, xbox live capable, the graphics, the rosters, and the features! The graphics to start out are outstanding! The players look real and they do not walk through eachother like in Madden 08 and 09! The loading time is quick and the game picture is nice, bright, and clear. The graphics alone make it a great video game to buy. The rosters, the most up-to date rosters possible for download pretty much every single time there is a roster move! Once a player is traded or a coach hits a milestone, Madden NFL tech shoot out a complete up to date roster within 48-72 hours after the moves! Fast saves and loading times and the features are great! There is a franchise mode, a rookie (become a star) mode, there is training, practice, videos, and much more. This game is complete and is the most elite game out for purchase. This game is a perfect buy and is worth all the retail $60.00!! I own the game myself and love it! It is fun, addictive, and everyone loves to compete to reach the top of the charts! If I were you and you had the money and didn't know what to spend it on, I highly recommend you to keep Madden 10 in your mind! Once you get it, you will love it, and will play it.. constantly!! A+++++ 5 STARS, Perfect! If you buy it, feel free to tell me what you think about the game, I love to hear comments about games and about items I do reviews on, I guarentee you'll love it! Its the most elite xbox 360, PS3, and Wii game out there, ENJOY it!!

  Madden 10 - Phenominal!!!
Review created: 10/12/09
2 of 2 people found this review helpful.

Most Madden games have a tendency to be milked from year to year, but the newest release of Madden 10 was a total eye opener to the Football/Sports Gaming community. This games has so much to give to the gamer off and online, from good detailed franchises to even creating a player. What shocked me most was that they brought back "Create a Team" which I haven't seen within the Madden games since 2005? So this is a big bonus!

One thing I noticed about Online play was how neatly organised the lobbies were and how easy it was to find a match up with a person with your skill level. Besides for the 1v1 action for Online play, they provide you with a cool new feature called "online franchise" which is a very neat thing to bring into the online play since a lot of serious players are just "too" good for the computer so they can test their abilities against real life players trying to do the same.

Overall, this game is flawless and is a must buy if you like football!

Better, but still needs alot of work with gameplay.
Review created: 10/03/09

At first this game seems really good, but the more you play the more problems you will notice. The major thing I dislike about this game is the offensive line, your players sometimes will not block and just let players right on through for an easy sack. On the flip side the AI offensive line is almost invincible.

Another problem are the interceptions, there are way too many of them. I also can't understand why there are no replays after touchdowns, interceptions, and sacks, they just seem to pop up once in a while and are dull and lifeless.

I also am not a big fan of paying $63.99 for a game and then being charged for items that should already be in the game to begin with. I could see being charged for bigger items like the AFL add on, but not the items in the Madden store. Also what is with those ads that pop up on the bottom of the screen before every play? I was playing a game and this ad for BF Goodridge kept coming on the screen before every play. If you want to place ads in the game, put them on the wall of the stadiums like mlb 2k9 does.

The broadcast team in Madden 10 needs improvement, Chris Collinsworth is decent, but Tom Hammond just sounds like he is reading from a script with no emotion at all.

In closing, this game is much improved over 09, the graphics are almost life like. The presentation got a much needed boost with alot of nice cut scenes, such as quarterbacks on the phone, and kickers warming up for a potential game winning field goal. The potential is here for a great game, unfortunatley this is not the year.

BEST MADDEN YET & I've been playing since the first one
Review created: 02/26/10

Love the changes they made to this game. The fact that the first time you hit someone they don't just fall down and be tackled is GREAT!! Also love to play defensive line and actually fight you way to the quarterback/halfback is a lot of fun using the sticks!! I mainly play franchise mode and love what they did with the coaching staff and how they can influence your team. BEST football game ever. Now, is there room for improvement. I would say yes but not much. I think they could do some of the things I saw in the demo for NFL Head Coach. I'm gonna buy that game to get that full experience which is my favorite part of the game. Well that AND actually playing out all my choices on the field. (Which you cannot do in NFL Head Coach) Keep up the good work guys over at EA Sports. What a homage to such a wonderful ex NFL Coach and announcer! He wanted people to understand the game better is why is started doing Madden Football way back when and I'm here to tell you it has changed the way I watch games now and feel it has taught me so much about the game.

  Best Madden yet.

By far the most realistic Football experience in a video game yet.
Visuals are great.
the new gang tackling system really adds to the realism.

I don't like that they make you pay for "accelerators" which are basically cheats that used to be earned through madden cards. Also, if you plan on creating more than a handful of players you are SOL. The limit is about 11. (4 if you update the roster).

Wish you could turn off the half-time show thing because even if you try to skip through it, you have to push 'a' like 5 times and wait for the stupid transition animation to finish each time. but now I'm just nitpicking.

Superstar mode lacks the depth of previous years. (no silly little movie deals and texts from your mentor, which i kinda liked)

The bottom line is it's all about football, and Madden 10 delivers.
Excellent graphics, excellent game play.
Definitely worth the purchase.

  Wildcat offense...

This madden is definitely above the rest. The motion, tackling and computer a.i. are off the charts good. Pat White is fun to play with as well as the recent update with the dog killing vick. Some things I have personally not liked are these: On online franchise mode, you can't edit players from say lolb to a de or such. Also, there is no salary cap from what I can see and you can't practice with your team or even export the roster. The ratings on some players that I feel are decent in the league to average are set at like a 60 overall. My biggest hate of the game comes from Microsoft/Madden in which you can PURCHASE cheats and things like that to make your players better...Talk about a scam. All in all though, I'm glad that the online franchise mode is back, rookie ratings aren't overly high, and the game in my opinion has taken a step forward...but still has a ways to go. I still love the madden franchises though and will continue to purchase them.

  Madden NFL 10
Review created: 01/05/10

This is my first Madden game period. I love it because you can play one of your favorite teams or even create a new one from scratch. This game is mostly (as I have been informed) like the other Madden games. There are some new details to make it more like the real game. However, some of the details like the chain gang and the half- time report cause some annoyances during the game. It is a great game for any football fan, however, if you have a Wii also, buy it for the Wii because you have to use the control stick to throw the ball and it is more interactive this way.

  Madden NFL 10
Review created: 11/06/09

Online or off, playing with real people makes it clear that with Madden 10, the game on the field has started to change and it's not just from being slowed down a little. Football fundamentals matter now. Successful plays come from knowing the situation, calling the right play, making a good pre-snap read, and then executing -- the same criteria that determines the outcome in a real game. After wondering since the advent of the HD generation if Madden would get serious about elevating its game to match its good looks, it's nice to see that Madden 10 takes a significant step in that direction.

Madden 10 great game!! bring back a missing feature
Review created: 09/22/09

I really like the changes made to improve the running game. I have been playing Madden since it first came out for the Sega master system and I buy it every year. This is by far the best the graphics have ever looked. I recommend this game to anyone who demands realistic game play. The programers should reinstitute the possibility of unnecessary roughness if a player is struck while out of bounds. They should allow the players to control the defender like thay did years ago. This makes it more realistic and allows frustrated players to get penallized for being over agressive. This is a feature I miss.

  Its Madden
Review created: 03/09/10

I thought that it was a good title to own, every couple years get the new Madden. I should have got 09, or waited till next year. There are a few new things about this version that I do not like. One of my main problems is that you dont have total control of watching or not watching every play, you cant go right to picking the next play without watching one player(s) trash talking or walking around looking dumb. I think I should be able to skip all the hoop-la and get down to the reason I bought Madden, play football. On the other hand the graphics and detail are great. They keep getting better. Myself I am glad that I didnt pay the full price for this one I think I would have been more dissapointed.

  Must Have NFL Game
Review created: 02/01/10

Everyone Madden up until Madden 10 is just another football game. Madden 10 is the ultimate. The finale. The don't have to make another version because it won't get better than this. Online franchise, great single player franchise, visiuals are great, gang tackling is sweet and the presentation is top notch. Two downfalls... needs improved commentary. Cris Collinsworth is fine but Tom Hammond is a joke and the Franchise Menus are awful.

Review created: 05/21/10

I have been a Madden lover for years. Then EA Sports got that exclusive license from the NFL and since they have been disappointing. Not Madden 10!! Great graphics (like usual), gameplay(yes I said it), and good presentation. There were a few glitches and the updates didn't seem to iron those out, but it does not at all affect the replay value. If you love football and lookin to get back in the video game groove, this is a great place to start.

Review created: 04/25/10

If your thinking "oh its just another football game like last year...", I was too until I played it. After I had played 1st down, i could tell it was not going to be the same. Everything is updated...hits, plays, the way to choose play, the physics on how it feels to control... Hands down a step up from last year. If your football fan, Madden 10 is definitely something to look into buying for your collection, and who knows maybe get around to selling 2009 on Ebay. ;-)

Great game with a more realistic touch
Review created: 11/07/09

I usually buy the Madden every 2 years because I don't really think it is necessary to buy one yearly. That being said though, this game is really different. Alot more realistic with the gameplay. I have so far tried 6 different teams with different ratings good ok to bad and they all are very accurate with player stats. I wish they could show more personality when they do face closeup of the players. Either way the game is good and so the soundtrack if it matters to anyone. The only thing i would change on the game would be... the reaction time it takes to do a play action pass. Sometime it takes a lil too long to pass.

Review created: 10/14/09

What would you rather do, play hopscotch with your self(NFL 2k10) or play a good game like MADDEN 2010!!! The fixed online play in the latest patch, so the run off clock doesn't take too much time off. The ONLINE FRANSHISE MODE is the new thing about Madden, and is well worth every penny paid for MADDEN. i would rate this game a 9.5 / 10 !!!
