2006's edition in the unstoppable football series features a brand new passing game in the Quarterback Vision Control system -- depending on where you are looking and how good your QB is, your zone of view affects how accurate your toss is as well as allowing you precision placement ahead of or straight to the receiver. The game now also feature Formation Specific Audibles and other tweaks to the offensive and defensive game. Outside of the huddle, Madden NFL 06 features a brand new Superstar Mode single player game, allowing you to live the life of a single NFL star, earning one of more than 60 Personas ranging from MVP to Movie Star. Import players from NCAA Football NFL STREET 2 player into NFL Superstar Mode to give him a head start, and experience a story mode of endorsement deals, minigames and more.

Special Features
Use the right analog stick to find open receivers heading for paydirt; use the left analog stick to lead a receiver to an open area, throw away from a defender, and more; create a superstar and guide his life on and off the field. Choose an agent, earn one of 60 personas, and live the superstar life; authentic new camera angles, improved graphics, and new commentary and cutscenes that provide the look and feel of a real NFL broadcast; deliver big hits on offense to break tackles and pancake defenders.

    Every year I purchase the new Madden and every year, after a few gaming sessions, I give a slight shrug. Why? Because it’s essentially the same game every year with updated rosters and a slight tweak or two. EA should be given kudos for superb marketing since people are essentially shelling out $50 for a patch.

    Madden 2006 isn’t radically different from 2005. If you’ve played that game or even the year before, you can basically pick it up and dig right in.

    I’m disappointed that the ESPN NFL 2K were bought out since they offered an alternative as well as a shocking $20 price tag. Now that the monopoly is back in play, there’s pretty much no choice other than NFL Blitz and that is NOT a football game.

    Here’s to hoping that next year’s incarnation of Madden will add something significant to the price rather than another year.
