Movie Description
MADAM SATAN is a highly original blend of 1930s precode sexuality, dark comedy, musical song and dance, and Cecil B. DeMille's stylish sense of outlandish visual spectacle. Kay Johnson stars as Angela Brooks, a wealthy socialite who discovers that her dashing husband, Bob (Reginald Denny), is having an affair with Trixie (Lillian Roth), a brash showgirl, and decides to fight fire with fire to win back his love. Bob, attempting to hide his affair, tells his suspicious wife that his best friend, Jimmy (Roland Young), is married to Trixie but is quickly caught in the lie when his wife pays Trixie a surprise visit. Determined to fight for her marriage, Angela comes up with a glamorous way to catch her husband's attention: become Madam Satan. In a truly stunning twist, this romantic comedy of the boudoir shifts to a high-glitz Hollywood extravaganza taking place on a zeppelin high above the city streets. Dressed in enchanting Hollywood confections designed by legendary designer Adrian, the women of the party compete in a costume beauty pageant while the men bid on their favorites and Madam Satan goes after the heart of her unsuspecting husband.
