Much like Fever to Tell, Machine comes in with rock riffs that kick ass and take names after I would highly recomend this single to anyone that wants to rock.

  Worst of the best

Although a Yeah Yeah Yeah's CD and therefore glorious, Machine is by far the worst EP put out by them. It has only 7 minutes of play, and one of the three tracks, a remix of "Pin", would have been best left off the CD.

The YYY's Machine single Review by Dave G.
Review created: 03/04/07

The single Machine by the Yeah Yeah Yeahs is a must have for any fan of this band. It has the same tempo and sound of The Fever to Tell album and is great as an addition to a burned copy of Fever To Tell as sort of a Extended Play Disc.

There are 3 tracks on the single. The Title Track "Machine" is by far the best and sounds like the illegitimate child of the songs "Deja Vue" and "Tick" with just a touch of "Miles Away"

Track 2 is also very good, it’s just too short! Minute and a half is all you get with this one. To me it sounds like The White Stripes "Ball and Biscuit" on fast forward.

As for track 3, it is not as cool as you would think it would be. I have heard several remixes of the YYY's, most notably the Gold Lion Single, and this one pales in comparison. They totally put PIN in a blender for this one, and the resulting consequences are this-

UNLESS YOU ARE TRIPPING, HIGH, CRANKED, STONED OR WHATEVER; OR YOU WANT TO FEEL THAT WAY this track is unrecognizable as PIN. Track 3 only holds on to the intro to the original song and then uses the moaning sounds of Karen O and some guitar banter from Nick. That’s it Folks, That’s the whole song. It’s still kind of cool though.

So one question remains... is it worth buying? YES, if you like the YYY's enough to buy Fever to tell or the EP it is worth it to pick up this disc.

Rock On everybody, Rock On.
