  Mcgregor vfoil 565 iron set

I bought the Mcgregor 565's for several reasons. My research showed these irons to be above average value and quality for average sales. And, I needed new irons. I love the clubs. I've found the long irons to be about a club longer than my old ones, and the short irons are just plain easier to hit straight - they are easier to get on line and keep on line. I've always kept my clubs clean, but these Mac's are stopping my short irons on a dime. I buy almost all my golf gear on eBay, and these clubs were an excellant value, aside from just being great clubs period. I highly recommend someone looking for new irons to consider the Mcgregor vfoil 565's. I'm not a great player, but my handicap has dropped a couple points with the swithch. Thank you Mcgregor and thank you eBay!

I loved these clubs. They were a high quality, inexpensive solution to me finding clubs that I like. I could have easily paid at east three times more for the level of satisfaction that I obtained with this purchase. I got them quickly also. These clubs were replacing a much more expensive set that gave me a lot less satisfaction. After doing a little research, this was practically the perfect buy for me. I was going to play a lot less golf. I may have even given up playing. Now I play as much as I can. My scores are steadily improving. Now I keep an eye on the auctions hoping I can make another priceless buy such as my Macgregor golf clubs.

  Superb Irons!

MacGregor Golf has been making great products recently and these M565 irons are no exception. they are a game-improvement forged iron, with a deep cavity and a two-piece design that allows weight to be moved back from the clubface and placed around the sole. They do not look like typical forged clubs at address, having a thick top line. Understated looks with a chrome finish and a black insert in the cavity.

They perform wonderfully. Mine have the Graphite Design YS factory graphite shafts, and they launch the ball high and far, significantly better than the Cobra SS irons I had previously. Feel is somewhere between a cast game-improvement club and a forged player's club. They are extremely forgiving of mishits. All in all these are the best irons I have ever owned. While MacGregor may no longer be one of the big names in the golf equipment business, they know what they are doing and produce outstanding products.

If you're looking for some very forgiving, forged irons that have the ultimate in perimeter and sole weighting to get your ball airborne and keep it going straight, then you should definately consider these irons along with the Macregor M455's, Cleveland Launchers and Cleveland TA-06's. I know. They don't have the Callaway name or reputation, but for the money, these 4 irons can NOT be beaten. Believe me, as a VERY regular buyer / seller of golf clubs, I've tried almost everything that's on the market and I LOVE these irons.

  MacGregors Best Irons ever
Review created: 01/30/08

I have bought (2) sets of M565's over the last 18 months. The first was graphite YS stiff shafts, unfortunately I found them difficult to guage the distance with 3,4,5 & 6 irons, and the wedge was flying 125 yards. I sold these to an older buddy and changed to 5.5 rifle shafts. Well, these are the best clubs I have ever used. My game has gone from mid 80's to high 70's. They play like blades, but are very forgiving. Off-centre hits still go the distance, and the nickel finish is fantastic. Most underrated clubs on the market. Keep them coming MacGregor.

PROBABLY ONE OF THE BETTER GRAPHITE SHAFTED IRON SET I EVER PLAYED WITH. GREAT DISTANCE AND DISTANCE CONTROL THROUGHOUT SET. SWEET FEELING AND HITTING,I'M SURE BEING FORGED IRONS HAS SOMETHING TO DO WITH THAT. I STILL OWN THIS SET BUT HAVE SINCE SWITCHED BACK TO STEEL SHAFTS BECAUSE THEY SEEM TO BE MORE ACCURATE.

It s funny that I got this set of irons. You see I sold a set very similiar to these clubs this past spring and purchased a set of Wilson irons to replace them. The Wilson irons are very good and quite different from the McGregor irons I bought this time. Don't always look and see something that you thing is better than the ones you presently have, because they may not be what you really want. The ole attage that the grass always looks greener on the other side is not necessarily the case. My case in point.

  Like those M565 V-Foil irons!

These forged M565 irons are a full club longer than my cast $200 (new) Golden Bears. They have a pretty wide sweet spot, therefore the longer irons are much easier to hit. They are also very easy (relatively) to get the ball up out of the rough. Two thumbs up!!

I consider these clubs to be the best I have played. Previously have used Mizuno blades, Cleveland 588's, Square Two cavity back, Power Bilt Citations. The Macgregors are easier to get consistent ball flight with, work well from rough or fairway lie, and will produce good carry distance. Great ball contact sound and feel good. I think I will buy another set as a backup in case they become scarce in future years.

  MacGregor M565 Irons

I used to sell golf clubs on ebay and have played them all. These are the best irons I have ever played. They are long, accurate and more durable than most forged clubs. These are better than irons costing far more.

Please note that all manufacturers have basically turn their pitching wedges into 9 irons (45 degrees). Pick up a 50 degree matching wedge if you can. I play the Rifle 4.5 shafts. Faster swingers might go for the 5.5s. I just purchased a set in graphite, as I play so much, my hands are getting sore.

I have had my eye on these for long while. They have a solid feel and great distance. They hit more like a hybrid than a typical forged iron.
great quality on the product. MacGregor only uses the best shafts and grips on their clubs.
replacing a set of Ping G2 with these.

  MacGregor V Foil M565 Irons

I considered these after reading all the good reviews. First let me say that these irons are quality built. The stock shafts are first class Rifle Flighted Lite steel. The heads are forged (rarely found in game improvement irons)and they have decent Golf Pride grips. Will they swing themselves? Absolutely not! I consider these to be game omprovemant and not super or ultra game improvement irons. Like any game improvement club, you always have to put a pretty good swing (not perfect)on the ball for decent results. Where these shine is that you don't have to put a perfect swing on the ball to obtain good results. I love the way they set up. They aren't clunky looking at address and the head appears slightly less than midsize in appearance. There is very minimal offset which I really like seeing at address and that is rare in a set of game improvement irons. The forgiveness is excellent on off center hits but don't expect an excellent result on a bad swing. It will, however, be better than most other types of game improvement clubs. Would I recommend these to all high handicap golfers? Nope! I believe these can be played well by anyone up to about a 16-18 handicap player. I can even see the very low handicap players liking these irons because of the nice appearance at set up. Bottom line...Very underrated set of irons. An excellent set of irons for the mid to mid-high handicap on down and at a bargain price right now. Quality built with a lot of forgivness and even playability for lower handicap golfers.

Likes: value, clean look at address, forged set, feedback on missed hits
Dislikes: distance was difficult to gage in 4-5-6 irons, lower irons could get dialed in for yardage.
Would recommend for mid handicapper, recreational player may want to go with easier hitting club.

The V-Foil Clubs are a "NO GRUNT", easy to Swing Club, Taking less Effort to get the DISTANCE that you desire in your Club Selections. I Highly Recommend these Clubs to all LEVELS of Handicap Golfers. Some Golfers may disagree but, they are YOUNG and Maybe already a PRO or 5 and below handicaps. I'm over 50 so I think they are Great!!!!!

These clubs are very solid. Can hardly feel the ball and when compared to irons for nearly twice as much, you still get an additional 5-10 extra yards out of them. Have been playing with them for three years now and they stil look new. Very resilient and great quality.

  EXTREME FORGIVENESS IRONS!!!
Review created: 09/21/09(updated 09/21/09)

These irons combine feel and forgiveness. They are forged for a terrific feel and they have perimeter weighting for very good forgiveness. I have played them all and these MacGregors are the best. You won't be sorry when you play them. They are accurate and long also. What more could you ask for in an iron.

MacGregor V-Foil M565 is just excellent
Review created: 05/14/09
by:

Before I decided to buy this M565 iron set (3-P G S) I had bought and played three other sets and had "demo" some of the big names. I ended up buying two sets of M565 from eBay, one in steel shaft (4.5) and tho other with stiff graphite. Now I am playing the set with graphite shaft because it is much lighter. I know the set with steel shaft gives me more accuracty but I am just lazy to cary that heavier set becasue I usually walk on the course. I have to say this is the best set I have ever played in almost 4 years since I picked golf up. I had it for a year and my score keep dropping. Last week I first shoot in the 70's. I might have improved my skill fundamentals but that improvement should have also come together with help from these irons. I am especially pleased with the long and mid irons (3, 4, 5, 6, 7 irons). I found them easy to hit. Previously I did not think I can hit 3 and 4 irons. Now I got rid of 5 wood because my 3 iron can go that far with better accuracy. The sound produced from hitting the ball is very crispy, and very different from that by a cast iron. I am not sure about how "forgiving" is defined, but I think it is easy to hit these irons while they still give me very direct feel about the impacts.
