These clubs are made for one thing, and one thing only: Game Improvement.
When my beat up old Northwesterns finally bit the bullet on my local driving range, (the hosel and the head of the 8 iron went through a nasty divorce), it was time to go shopping for a set of game improvement irons to help lower my 100 shot per round scores. I settled on these after trying out at least a dozen of different varieties, (boy, is there ever a lot of choices out there!).
The MacGregors are heavy headed, wide soled and has a sweet spot the size of your grandmothers Buick. They launch the ball into the flight path of small airplanes and dead straight with pretty much any kind of swing. The set is back-weighted progressively throughout the set, (the physical appearance of each club is actually different throughout), and the sole-width differs through every club as well. Perfect for the player that needs a little extra help plus a confidence boost. These clubs deliver. I can safely say that these clubs played a major part in making the game fun for me, and as such helped me lower my score into the eighties over the past two seasons.
Don't expect to draw and fade these irons at will though. They are not designed for that kind of game. High and straight is the order of the day, and the clubs will fight back if you try and change what they are programmed for. If you are looking to shape shots with your irons, check out another set that I have reviewed here on eBay.
Get these to improve your game and lower your score while having fun with it. It's what the M455's are made for.
