the 420 is obviously more forgiving than the 380 although a bit harder to find. you can get this in the aldila nvr shaft too which is a true bargain cos there are some wicked deals out there now on these clubs. i just scored one for $10 a great great bargain. club doesnt pound the ball like the 460's but with the right loft it goes reasonably straight for a neutral club. Has a nice lightweight feel and sounds nice when you catch it on the sweet spot. if your a 15-20 handy and your looking for a cheap but good investment this club might be for you. As i said if you can get one with the aldila nv-r or s (arghh too stiff really, well for me anyway) its a true bargain, thats a $30-$80 shaft? i'm not a fan of the YS shafts in drivers although they work well in woods but thats just an opinion. YS seem to be a more common manufacturer for this club. macgregor as always a solid club at a great price. I got one again and i'm probably gona keep it as an alternate cos its reliableas backup.

I bought this same driver, the M42 v-foil over a year ago. My drives are straighter and longer and most of all for us hackers, very very foregiving.

MacGregor - adding new technology to a bag of oldtimers
Review created: 04/11/09
by:

My new MacGregor driver has arrived today and I am very exited with what I have received! The time had come for me to finally retire that old MacGregor persimmon and step into the 21st century!! Endless barbs from my Thursday night regulars will now be silenced!! I had reservations about the new style and size of drivers on the market today but have found the perfect fit for my 1968 Tourney irons. This head is only 420cc which sets up to my eye a lot easier than the 460's that seem to be everywhere. The style of the head is also simple from the top mixed with some flair on the sides. I always felt MacGregor took the time and effort in adding this element to club design and I am pleased to see it has continued. Now comes the fun of the first tee block and turning a little draw hopefully further down on the short stuff - and hearing "I told you so" from my buddies. Very happy ebayer - Steve Dove.

"Trampoline effect" club face on a budget
Review created: 05/06/08

MacGregor makes forged clubhead faces. The front wall is thin enough so's you feel the spring happening. Up side is that it trains you to get the line pretty close to what is needed. Down side is that if you insist on mis-hitting, it clangs and loses 30 yards. My workout with it last weekend saw drives flaling off from the usual 240-yards to 220-yards, but then rebounding to normal with several hit right-on for 260-yards or so. This driver also encourages a slower, more effective arm swing. New it was high side of $300 and now goes for $30 -- which is a pure steal. Overall -- as good as a Ping G2, maybe a G5. Once I get relaxed this'll go to the 275-yards I'd thought unlikely before feelilng this feedback. -- Good luck !

  Dont understand the prices

Not just the best clubs for the money, but as a 0 handicap... These are the best clubs I have played with, as with most golf fanatics, I am always playing with new toys, and I have had the matching three wood for two years and stopped looking at any others. This driver is heavy! I am a big guy with a 120 mph swing so this one fits me great, I would not give it to my girlfriend as she would fall over trying to swing it. Great product, and you can pick one up for a steal, even if you don't like it for golf it works great for home defense!

NICE LOOKING CLUB,EASY TO LINE UP AND SQUARE. JUST DIDN'T HAVE A ZING. NO REAL REASON TO KEEP IT ESPECIALLY SINCE IT HAD A STIFF SHAFT,WHICH I DO NOT NEED. WOULD RECOMMEND TO SOMEONE WANTING SMALLER CLUBHEAD.
