Male, RH, HCP 12, 40 YOA, Previous Driver Talormade Quad, Irons Mizuno MP-32

I was sold on the Callaway FTI until I took a few swings with a NVG2 on a range. I loved the feel and solid sound, but I only got about 7 swings. With only 7 swings I figured I would try to find one with scars on ebay for cheap... to validate my preference shift before dropping big green on a new one. I simply could not find a "demo" so that was my only choice.

Having received and played the club for 4 rounds and range time, I can only say that I am more impressed. I am 20-30 yards longer with this club! As an engineer, I know that some of that yardage must be attributed to a poor fit on my last club (Talormade), even though I had it "fit" :-(. However, this club is every bit as long, if not longer than the FTI, probably about 5-10 yards longer.

At the price you can pick them up for, they are a pure steal. My swing speed is only about 98, but I have an agressive tempo so I still got the "Tour" version and it is fine. The non-tour version is just as good IMO and based on a conversation I had with MacGregor before ordering. I simply needed the 9 degree because I hit the ball high and the non-tours don't have that loft.

I hear a lot of talk about the sound on Ti drivers. I played college baseball, so I am use to aluminum contact sounds. If most Ti drivers give a tin sounding "tink" and the FTI/fusion drivers are a "boink", then the Mac is somewhere in between in tone with a little less volume. I would liken it to a pured line drive from a heavy 33 ounce easton, in baseball terms. Hope that helps some of you.

Interesting Note: Due to my flawed swing, I play all my shots toward the toe. The only good thing is that you can cover the wear pattern on my equipment with a nickel. In short, I hit toward the toe, but very reproducibly. The 360 technology is supposed to give this driver the biggest sweatspot in the game. I should also note, the FTI (my second choice) is designed to also accomodate such imperfect contact. I don't buy into alot of marketing hype, but I am significantly longer with this driver as stated above. I was longer with the FTI too, just not quite as long. Could this really be due to the 360? Perhaps there really is something to both designs.

It just amazes me that this club has not gotten the press it deserves. My Talormade is for sell for sure now... I have not sad anything about control, but lets just say I am very happy with the accuracy. The tour model is a tad heavier, which helps accuracy somewhat. Even the non-tour version is heavier than my previous Talormade, making the increase in distance even more amazing to me.

This club will be in my bag for a long time. Give Mac a shot if you don't need a big label and price tag to feel good about a club.

What a great club... this undergraded club has is all; power, control, & distance. Give it a try, you will never look at Taylormade or Ping again. Macgregor is back!

Very good feel and sound, with a penetrating flight. Extremely forgiving on toe hits with minimal twisting of the clubhead. This club will help to find the fairway. Amazing performance for an amazing price.

Best kept secret of new group of 450cc drivers. With the Fujikura shaft, it plays exceptionally, and can handle the fastest swings any pros would expect.

This company is often forgotten as one of the major players in the golfing industry. They still make some of the best equipment around and I am very pleased with this product
