I got the 685's after trying them on a demo day. Ive played many irons, and when i saw these i had to try them. They are very pleasing to the eye in my opinion. they set up well, with a thin top line. very refined iron. they are forged, and they feel softer than a cavity casted club, but not as butter soft as a true true forged iron. That said, they are also much more forgiving than a tru tru forged club. so you give a little softness away, but you get it all back and then some on the forgivness side. very nice ball flight, medium flight with the 7-P, and medium to high with the 3-6. distance is also very good, im bout half a club to a club longer with this set. I am an 8 hndcp. hope this helped you guys outthere wondering bout these macgregors.

I purchased this iron set after reading many other internet reviews, all positive. Most reviews mentioned that MacGregors are underrated. The clubs include as standard Rifle shafts and Golf Pride Decade Multicompound grips, both options with any other manufacturers. The heads are made of different metals between low and high irons, providing more feel in the upper clubs and hotter faces in the lower. I have yet to play, winter in the North, but have used these several times on the range. The lower irons are extremely easy to hit, so much that I may drop a Hibrid. The scoring irons due have much better feel, even with range balls. The most significant difference to my other set (Cleveland TA2) is a higher ball flight which will require some adjustment. I play to a 12 handicap and find these forgings much more forgiving than others I have owned. I would recommend these to any low/mid player. The comments regarding underrated are correct. These are well made, high quality clubs for a reasonable price.

I purchased this set as I was looking for a forged set and some forgiveness for those off center hits. I play between a 7 and a 10 handicap, depending on the tightness of the course (I'm not the most accurate driver in the world). The M685 have a clean look at address with a thin top line, and a good square set-up. An on center hit will produce a nice "click", and the ball flight is medium trajectory, with good spin. The back of the club looks a bit busy, but it's no big deal.
I demoed several iron sets recently (pretty much all the "player" irons in Golf or Golf Digest reviews), and liked the Titleist 755, Cleveland CG4 tours, and the M685. Given that I thought they were all comparable, I made the decision on price, and have not been disappointed.

These clubs are great. I love the feel of them and the trajectory with the lower irons helps the ball land softly on longer shots. Wonderful stock shafts and grips. Nothing but positive. An absolute steal at under three hundred dollars. Don't think anymore. Buy these irons!

I love these clubs!! The first time I addressed them, the feel was perfect. They line up well, and I feel very comfortable and confident. I have the stiff flex rifle shafts 3-pw. On the couse these are the straightest clubs i've ever hit, and the ball travel is long. The ball appears to just float through the air. You will not be dissappointed with these clubs!

These clubs are great. I am an 18 handicap but I was about a 22 handicap before purchasing these clubs. The clubs aren't the only reason I have improved but they have helped. Solid hits with these irons are beautiful. It feels as though the air behind the club face causes the ball to move. No vibration is felt in the hands. They are forgiving clubs, mis-hits aren't as bad as they were before. Don't let the fact that these clubs are used by a lot of low handicappers fool you, they are great for mid -handicappers such as myself. I would definitely recommend them, especially for the prices that I have seen them selling for on ebay.

this iron set is very forgiving, but not as much as some other sets, so higher handicapers might want to switch to another set. they really help the ball get in the air, especially the long irons. plus, the ball flight is a great thing to look at when it comes off the club face. these have helped me lower my handicap by about 3 strokes per 18.
