Fun game - some bugs though

This is the best baseball game I have played in awhile, probably the best since World Series Baseball on the old Sega Genesis. Gameplay is realistic, and franchise modes are very in-depth. Players have unique batting stances and deliveries (for pitchers) and the stadiums all look great and have great detail. Overall, it is a very enjoyable game with lots of features and different kinds of games. There is a career mode where you create a player and try to make it to the majors. The games you play in are fast-forwarded until your player is involved in a play in the field or at bat/on the bases. There are season and franchise modes, where you control a team for a season or more. There is exhibition mode, for when you just want to play a quick game. There is a home run derby more, and more!
There are a couple of bugs in the game and a couple things I do not like. The one main bug is when you are in franchise mode, whenever you play a game when you are done your entire coaching staff disappears. Not a big deal to me, as I play more to play and not to micro-manage. But, if you like to take control of every aspect such as coaching/training/development then that is a bug that will definately "bug" you!. Another bug is that every so often when you go to your bullpen when you are at bat to warm a pitcher up, the game will prompt you to replace the pitcher for the other team (which you can't do) and the game will not let you leave the bullpen till you do that. So in essence the game gets stuck. Also, the crowd/game noise goes off and on sometimes during the pitchers delivery, which is a little annoying.
One annoyance (to me anyways) is that home runs can come fairly easily it seems when you have the pitcher in a hole (like 2-0 or 3-1) and swing with power. The CPU pitchers almost always groove one in those instances, and you can often (almost easily) make them pay. I wish that was a little harder.
All said and done, I do recommend this game if you are into the gameplay of baseball games and I do not recommend this game if you are into managing/developing teams. If you have your PS2 set up to connect to the net, you can log on and download updated rosters during the season (which is very nice). I recommend the game if you like baseball, but wish it didn't have so many bugs.

  Outstanding!!!

MLB '07 The Show is by far my favorite baseball video game out there. It is the most realistic. The home run derby is just like you see on TV, with your teammates on the side, sitting on the grass, cheering you on and watching your opponents hit. The graphics are the best I have seen in a baseball video game, and I have played just about every baseball video game there is. "The Road to The Show" is so real, if your player is an outfielder, you actually see from the outfielders perspective when fielding. The game runs very smoothly and has not frozen once on me. I highly recommend this game!!

MLB '07 You gotta get this game...

I have been playing MLB baseball on my PS2 for the past 2 seasons - last season with MLB 2K6 (which I wrote a review of and was not impressed with) but this one makes up for the poor quality of MLB 2K6. The graphics are much better than I have ever seen in a MLB video game. There are so many more features and commands that it might take me until the all-star game to fully start to master this game!

The announcers this year are not Joe Morgan and John Miller, so in my opinion the play by play could be improved but unlike the previous version I played the audio seems to have no flaws.

The only drawback I have found to this game is when you hit a home run the game does not let you watch it go out of the park (until it runs the highlight of the play). This could be a flaw of mine as I might not have the settings just right for it to show the ball leave the ballpark as I hit it.

I am glad I have pre-ordered this game and can not wait until I get an adapter to connect my PS2 to the Internet - if the game is only 50% as good on line as they claim I will be a very happy camper.

Now I must return to the game so I can skipper may Cardinals back to the World Series!

  Excellent Game is an Understatement

Almost identical to the 06 fanantics controll wise. Rosters upgraded and Graphics are slightly modified. Batting Controls inhanced. You can View the area in which your are guessing the pitch to be. Carrer Mode is more realistic when it comes to training. Running throws from the outfield are easier to accompish and catches look more realistic. The catcher lines up to where the pitches are going to be so more realistic in that area. Also most strick out pitches are displayed in replay where it hit in the zone. I love the game. Just talking about it makes me want to go home and play it right now.

First, the service and communication were great, I very strongly recommend and hope to buy from again in the future too! Game is better than advertised and saving my seasons as the Phillies and the Red Sox is amazing!! Definitely one of the best buys I've had in a good while!! Animation of the parks and players is definitely superb and the best I've seen in a long time! Best baseball game I've ever bought too! A+++++

Best Baseball game I have ever owned.

I like the career mode especially. Very challenging. You have to earn your way to the professional league which gives the game more longevity. More value in my opinion. The pitching options on the mound are realistic, and the pitch choices are numerous. The batting is challenging and realistic. Game allows base runner to take good, long leads off the base, but be careful. Game has excellent hand control of fielders, easy to manipulate your teams fielders.

I have not found anything I don't like about this game yet.

I bought this game to replace my old baseball game. Obviously much improved since my old baseball game was an 04 version.

  Worth Playing!
Review created: 08/28/07

Overview: The game is very similar to last years version, which is actually a good thing. They have added a few tweaks to keep it fresh. The biggest tweak was the addition of the Road To The Show mode. The Road to the show mode is were you take a created player and play a career but only focus on him, so you'd play only his position, and only bat for him. Throughout the games you get specific goals to complete for stat points. They fixed all the quirks that were major in the last game, but missed a few.

Gameplay: This is by far the best baseball game for any PS3, PS2, and PSP owners. The gameplay is as realistic as you can get, and with the commentary that follows the action it makes you feel like you're watching a game on TV.

Sound: Like I said the commentary of Matt Vasgersian, Dave Campbell, and Rex Hudler make the game feel so realistic and enjoyable. The soundtrack is also great.

Entertainment: This game will keep you entertained with it's stunning graphics, and great gameplay.

Graphics: The game has almost exactly the same graphics as last years, but they're still some of the best player models I've seen. Most players have the right skin tones, and faces except for a few.

Replay Value: This game has a high replay value due to the fact that you can play RTTS, Season/Franchise, or against friends on or offline.

  A Must Buy

I bought this game the day it came out because 06 was so amazing. I love the fact you can download live rosters and implement them immediately, unlike EA Sports titles which don't allow for you to start a season with altered rosters. The graphics are also superb and the game play is realistic. It is awesome that you get to make a player and work your way up to the bigs!

  MLB '07: The Best

The year before I bought MLB '06: The Show and thought the game was great but '07 is even better. I had dreams of playing in the majors myself but after having a stroke, I saw my dreams crushed. Even though it's just a game, it is a good substitute for me. I feel like I'm in the game.

  Great Graphics, Average gameplay
Review created: 04/02/07

I love the look of the game. Very smooth and precise with players actions, the "baseball feel," and depth of options. However, online play is average to poor. Way to easy to steal a base, league options are horrible, and gameplay is hard to master. If you were to put 2k7's gameplay with the look of this game, it would be a masterpiece!

I really like the home run derby but the game itself is a little hard to figure out at first. When you do have it figured out it is a pretty good game to play against someone else.

This is a great game and it was in great condition. I have played other versions of the mlb the show franchise and 07 is by far my favorite version. The case and instruction booklet was in mint condition and was very surprised at the disk quality for a used game.
