A quick guide for learning the main licks. Instructer lays it down quick but thorough. The video is over an hour long which includes a band demonstration of each song and then a step by step breakdown. I've played most of these songs for years but picked up a lot of licks from watching this. Greg Koch is a great musician and hilarious to boot. Personally i'd rather have more licks and less talk. On the down side there is no tab, but he refers to the Hal Leonard book on one of the songs. The song selection is great but not all of my personal favorites. Lynyrd Skynyrd has so many good ones. I would buy a Vol. 2.
If you can learn from watching and listening you can't go wrong. Instructions are very clear. If you have a tab book it's a big plus. I highly recommend this DVD.

) Greg Koch is an excellent instructor with a good sense of humor. This dvd gears down to the essential riffs of the songs it explores. It may be better suited for intermediate or advanced players, but it covers the tunes in a concise, yet thorough way. This is a great addition to your learning library, especially if you like Skynyrd or southern rock in general.

A good breakdown of the licksFor me, this DVD did a great job of illustrating and breaking down the licks on some of Lynyrd Skynyrd's great songs. They did a reasonably good job of selecting from the wide array of the group's hits (I'm up for a Volume 2, as another reviewer has suggested).
To those who might complain about Greg Koch's entertaining style of commentary, I say "lighten up!" The guy can play, and knows what he's doing.
If you're a real novice, you may find that even the slowed down demonstrations might be just a little quick for you, but that's what the rewind button is for. Just playback a few times, and you'll soon get the idea. He won't hold your hand, but you can do it and be better for it. This observation comes from my son, who is just learning to play and is getting hooked on "classical music" like this.
Having the tablature handy would be a great supplement to the videos, as well as helping learn the rest of the song that surrounds these licks. Too bad Hal Leonard didn't include some PDF files with the tab on this disc, but then you wouldn't have to go buy their books, would you? Mwaahaahaa!
All in all, I really like this DVD and recommend it to any Skynyrd fan who wants to enjoy a thorough analysis of these licks.
