Lynyrd Skynyrd - Freebird: The Movie & Tribute Tour (DVD, 2001)

THIS WAS BETTER THAN I HOPED FOR!! GREAT FOOTAGE, ALL THE GREAT SONGS, WELL WORTH IT. A MUST FOR ANYONES MUSICAL VIDEO LIBRARY.

My husband and I are BIG Lynyrd fans. I bought this DVD for him and he loved it. Not only does it show you alot of footage from the concerts that we are to young to have seen. It also had great interviews with the remaining people in the band and the friends and family including various artists from that time. It was a good movie if you are a LYNYRD fan!

For the biggest part the dvd allowed me to go back into time and rediscover what excellent musicians and people this group was and what they meant to the Musical history of the world.
Growing up in the 70's Lynyrd Skynyrd was a major part of my life. Their songs had messages pertaining to the positive things in like. Thanks for the memories.

Great DVD on Lynyrd Skynyrd at their prime,shows concerts around the mid seventies, and in between songs they have interviews from people in the band, and with friends, some interviews are from 10 years after the plain crash, and some interviews are right around there tour in the 70's before the terrible plain crash, dvd also came with a tribute tour about 10 years after the accident with the surviving members. If you want vintage footage of lynyrd skynyrd in there prime, this dvd is it. Awsome!!

I am a long time Skynyrd fan and I read a lot of reviews on this combo "Freebird" & "Tribute Tour" DVD before I purchased it. Most reviews were concerned with sound and visual quality and I almost didn't buy this set because of the reviews.

However, I did end up purchasing this set and I highly recommend it for anyone that is a Skynyrd fan. If you are not a fan but have heard their songs before then I think you will also love this DVD.

Don't worry about the negative reviews by all these techo geeks. This DVD set is worth the money and it will put you right back in time to 1977. It's refreshing to see a live band that can play more than one or two songs.

These guys were extremely talented and a real pleasure to watch. The sound and visual quality was fine for me and I really got to know the members of the band again.

This is a must have for any Skynyrd fan or anyone that is curious about what these guys were really like as a band.

I am very happy that I invested the money and bought the DVD.

FOR ANYONE WHO GREW UP LOVING SKYNYRD, YOU HAVE TO HAVE THIS DVD. IT IS A GREAT VIDIO, HALF IS OF THEY BAND BEFORE THE PLANE CRASH. IT HAS A LOT OF INTERVIEWS WITH BAND MEMBERS AND GREAT CONCERT FOOTAGE. THE SECOND HALF IS A TRIBUTE TOUR THAT TOOK PLACE 10 YEARS AFTER THE CRASH, WITH MOST OF THE SURVIVING MEMBERS. ALL IN ALL IT IS GREAT AND I KNEW I HAD TO HAVE.

What can you say about Lynyrd Skynyrd? They set the standard for Rock Bands with that southern, downhome style! Many classic tunes, Rock & Roll anthems really, that have already transcended time! And, what ever film footage there is of them, that survived that era, you will find to here. AWESOME!

Great Lynyrd Snynyrd movie for every fan, first half is the tour/movie of the original band with Allen Collins and Ronnie Van Zant, the second half is the Tribute tour/interviews with the new members of Lynyrd Skynyrd and commentary by Charlie Daniels

If you love anything about Skynrd, You'll love this double feature look at their fame. After renting it, I had to buy it for my Skynrd loving husband. And glad I did!!

It was full if intresting facts about the band and how they got started. the music was great and some footage of the movie I have never seen before. I very much a Lynyrd Skynyrd fan and like to play there music. Great DVD for someone who likes this band

This is a "must have" for all Lynyrd Skynrd fans!! I used to have this in VHS format and don't have a player anymore, so was so excited to add this to my dvd collection! You feel like you're sitting in the audience...excellent footage and interviews giving a detailed history of the too short lived orginal Lynyrd Skynyrd!! Well worth your investment!

As described, Freebird is more of a tribute or biography of the band, with snippets of family members & friends thrown in on the origin of Lynyrd Skynyrd (including the original man himself!) The quality of the concerts depicted in the film range from good to a grainy B&W, so be forewarned. However, audio is fairly good overall. My purchase came with a tribute tour video, which is a continuation of the band as it transistions into the "new" (or current) band, all concert material featuring Ronnie's brother, Donnie. For true Skynyrd fans, not a bad video for the collection, no new ground broken on songs heard, just the classics. (Bullets, Sweet Home,Three steps, etc..& of course the Freebird finale)

A "must see" for any Lynyrd Skynyrd fan!!! Taped "Freebird" off CMT a few years back, missed some of the beginning, also found they edited "T For Texas". "Tribute Tour" brought a tear to my eye a couple of times. Has commentary during songs, but really glad I spent the money on this one. Awesome!!!

Allen Collins is the best in this video he can make that Gibson talk the only fault i had was the movie should have more of there great hits on it

I ordered this dvd for one of my teenage sons. It was stocking stuffer for Christmas. He is a huge Lynyrd Skynyrd fan and we all really enjoyed the movie. I got it at a very fair price and would be happy to deal with this seller again.

I have recorded the Freebird: The Movie on VHS years ago from the TV, so having the movie on DVD, without commercial interruptions, was very exciting. It was well worth the money in itself and the Tribute Tour was quite a bonus for it had interviews with the band members, family members, fans and also the man for which the band got its name and narrated by Charlie Daniels. Any Lynyrd Skynyrd fan will appreciate the live footage and interviews.

This is a absolute must buy for the diehard Skynyrd fan. We have watched this over and over and over......with complete delight! It doesn't get any better than this. You will not be disappointed.

The movie is top notch. I have been a Lynyrd Skynyrd fan for a very long time and I found this to ba a real good tribute to the band. Can't go wrong with this one if you even like them a lottle.
