***WARNING! THIS GAME MAY CAUSE YOU TO LOSE COPIOUS AMOUNTS OF SLEEP! SIDE EFFECTS INCLUDE POSSIBLE ADDICTION, SEEING FALLING BLOCKS WHEN NOT PLAYING THE GAME, AND A SUDDEN URGE TO DANCE OR NOD YOUR HEAD TO THE MUSIC!!***

Now that that's out of the way, let the review begin. Before I bought Lumines, I had read glowing reviews that proclaimed that Lumines was one of the best game available for the PSP. Now that I have bought it and played for countless hours, I can now tell you that this is true. Lumines is by far the best puzzle game I have ever played.

I usually start a review by discussing its graphics and sound, but here I feel that I must start by talking about the gameplay. The genius of Lumines lies in its simplicity. No complicated rules, no powerups, only cube shaped blocks in a variety of two, yes two, colors. The objective of the game is to create squares/rectangles which will then be eliminated by the time line, a vertical line moving across the screen. I'm not going to digress into a lengthy explanation of the rules, just know that it's not as easy at it sounds.

As you eliminate more blocks, your level and score goes up. This is where Lumines really shines. Every certain amount of levels, the "skin" of the game changes. The blocks change color and shape, and the background changes to match the skin. Also, each skin brings about a music change. In addition to the graphic and music changes, the speed of the blocks and the time line also change with the skin. This variety in gameplay ensures that you never get bored. There are also a variety of different modes to play in, so you'll have plenty of options if you get tired of anything. There were times where I played for hours on end without noticing time going by. And after I was done, I kept seeing blocks falling in my head... I'm not joking.

The graphics in Lumines are simple, which blends well with the gameplay. The skins are delightful and full of color, adding an aesthetic element to an already solid game.

Musically, Lumines has an awesome soundtrack! The different songs in the skins are great, and every time you eliminate some blocks, there is a sound effect that fits into the music. So you're controlling the song with how you play the game! This is one unique part of Lumines that pushes it to the top of the ladder in puzzle games.

Overall, Lumines is an awesome game. If you don't like puzzle games, you'll still enjoy Lumines, and if you do, this is a must have! With stellar gameplay, music, and graphics, Lumines shines far above other puzzle games!

        Tetris Overloaded...

Tetris Lovers Beware! You will go NUTS after playing this one. A game similiar to Tetris but with a little bit of spice added.

Summary : A normal puzzle game. Objective of this game is fairly simple. Boxes fall down and you just got to connect them to make a square or rectangle of the same color as a "timeline" ( a line that passes by every few seconds ) will destroy the box as it passes by. YES very simple because there is only TWO colors. It's much easier when you play the game to understand it more but you just have to connect the pieces to make squares or rectangles instead of lines from Tetris. You just have to rank up your score like you Tetris Nerds always do in the regular oldie Tetris. What makes this game really NEAT is that there are "skins" involved. WHAT? You don't know what skins are? In case you didn't know, skins are just the same thing except just a few "mods" changed, meaning the background, the color, and believe it or not, even the MUSIC will change too. So how in fact do these skins change? As your score and combos go up as you keep elimating rectangles, it will just blend in the new "skin" and appear. You just got to see it. Also, many differnent modes! There's always the Original Single Player Mode, Multi-player Mode to go against your buddies, and the special computer match where you can go against the computer on a 1v1 match to earn more skins!

Gameplay : Fairly Simple. PSP Controls are easy to manuever. Very quick to learn game basics. Extremely ADDICTIVE and FUN. Very beautiful graphics with a bit of a new taste from all the common games out currently.

Sound : Astonded when I first played it. The music took my breath away as I closed my eyes and just listened. The music was a big hit to this game and it was gorgeous. Different types of music are played with many genre. Sound effects are included too as blocks are being "deleted" by the timeline. As the skins change, the music changes to make you feel like you are part of the game. One word : Overwhelmed.

Overall : Feels like an expansion from one of the major big hits , Tetris, yet it feels like something new. This game totally rocks. You don't want to miss out on this big hit. Lumines : Puzzle Fusion is here to stay on the PSP as one of the best puzzle games.
