This is one of the most recent releases by the Charles Schulz organization. It is the start of the season and Lucy plays right field. The problem is, she doesn't play it very well. Charlie Brown decides the only way they will improve the team is to make a trade. He makes the "greatest trade in the history of baseball"-Lucy for Marcy and a pizza. But of course that doesn't last because what would the team be without Lucy.
It is light hearted and a good animation feature for the children. Admittedly, it isn't the old Peanuts Classics like Charlie Brown Christmas, but it is fun for the whole family.
There are two bonus features as well. The first is "CHARLIE BROWN'S ALL STARS" Charlie Brown's team all have their own individual problems; like Freda doesn't want to play in right field because no one will be able to see her naturally curly hair. The local store owner is willing to provide uniforms for the All Star team IF Charlie leaves Snoopy and all the girls off the team. With usual correctness, Charlie comes up with the right decision.
As usual, there are a lot of good one-liners in this one. To be honest, it isn't one of my favorites. The animation/grafics is somehow different; it isn't as active, a bit more simplistic than the previous adventures. But the story is of the usually high quality and it is fun for the whole family.
The second bonus feature is "It's Spring Training, Charlie Brown". It's the same old story, the team comes out for spring training and they look terrible. Again. Charlie gets the idea that if they get new uniforms, they will look better and, maybe, they will play better. A local business man will pay for them, but first they have to win a game. Easier said than done with this team.
This is another good one from the Peanuts Gang people. Good storyline, a correct message to deliver, trials and tribulations...Well o.k., but it is a good bonus feature to go with "Lucy must be Traded."
All in all, these 3 animated features are enjoyable and most in the family will certainly enjoy.

While my child enjoys seeing the favorite characters of Charlie Brown, it is not one of our favorite Charlie Brown DVD's. There are more "You are stupid" phrases and the like in the content of this collection in comparison to the others. However, it has created a good opportunity with me and my three-year old to talk about "the golden rule" through characters that are beloved. We owned other Charlie Brown DVD's - the holiday collection - and enjoyed these much more. The Thanksgiving DVD is wonderful - historic integrity and engaging.

My elementary age children are big fans of the Peanuts comic strip by Charles Schultz. The main problem in this funny video is about Charlie Brown's worst baseball player, Lucy. She chats over the fence to another girl during a game, she allows a ball to roll between her legs, and no matter what the mishap, she always has an excuse why she couldn't retrive the ball. Peppermint Patty will only accept Snoopy in a trade and laughs at the thought of accepting Lucy on her team. I am one who gets sick of Lucy's football schtick and I enjoyed the focus on Lucy, who is the world's greatest pain in the neck. This DVD is different than the Christmas, Easter, and Valentine's Day Peanuts specials in this respect.
