Synopsis The sequel to Newbery-winner THE HIGHER POWER OF LUCKY finds Lucky Tipton struggling with the peacefulness and quiet rhythms of tiny Hard Pan. About to turn 11 and ready for some serious adventure, Lucky is thrilled when geologists come to town, with a little girl in tow. Paloma is definitely best friend material, which comes as a challenge to Miles and Lincoln, Lucky's unique and gifted buddies. Lucky slowly figures out how to be with everyone as small discoveries are made and many adventures ensue.
