Synopsis In this sequel to Mapson's "Hank and Chloe", Chloe (the horse trainer) tracks down Hank (the professor of folklore) in his cabin near an Arizona Indian reservation and tells him she's pregnant. Hank wants marriage, but Chloe wants her independence most of all. The baby is born prematurely, delivered by a Navajo jewelry maker to whom Chloe is immediately attracted--and the already-troubled relationship between Chloe and Hank is further endangered.

Industry Reviews "Tough love and the love of horses go hand and hand in this conventional but fairly skillful sequel to 'Hank and Chloe'....Matson knows how people behave under the influence of pain, and she captures--evocatively--the unique setting of the Southwest. Though predictable in a sexy, country-western ballad way, also as lyrical and memorable as any romantic melody." Newman
"Chloe is a well-drawn character, prickly and skittish....In spite of flaws, Mapson's well-sustained suspense and plot twists make the book hard to put down." Greene
"Mapson knows her territory intimately, and she populates it with memorable characters who readily engage our emotions. Her dialogue is earthy and funny, her setting evocative, her portrayal of good people facing difficult choices compassionate." Groban
