Album Notes
Taking Back Sunday: Matt Rubano, Fred Mascherino, Mark O'Connell, Adam Lazzara, Ed Reyes.
Everybody's favorite emo band is LOUDER NOW. Well, not really, but they're as loud as they ever were, with guitars that triangulate the influences of math rock, 1990s alt rock, and '80s metal, and the kind of heart-on-sleeve vocals that melt emo teens' hearts. Still, there's divergence from the emo template here; witness the poppy falsetto vocal hook in "MakeDamnSure" or the acoustic introspection of "Divine Intervention," or even the twist-and-grind guitars of "My Blue Heaven," which evoke King Crimson-via-Tool. In short, you don't have to be an emo maven to get LOUDER NOW.

Editorial Reviews
Ranked #1 in Kerrang's 20 Greatest Albums of 2006 -- [A] bold exercise in subverting expectations...
Kerrang

[A] mammoth rock beast of an album....Without doubt the best of 2006 so far, and one that will give your goose bumps goosebumps.
Kerrang

LOUDER NOW justifies its name thanks to a chunkier array of riffs and choruses than those on the emo-punkers' 2004 breakthrough...
Entertainment Weekly

3 stars out of 5 -- [They deliver] a turbocharged attack spiked with dark, catchy melodies and giant choruses.
Rolling Stone
