Album Notes Half Japanese: Jad Fair (vocals, guitar); David Fair (guitar); John Dreyfuss (saxophone, drums); Mark Jickling (bass guitar); Rocky Dreyfuss (drums). Liner Note Author: Byron Coley. Released in 1980, Half Japanese's second album more than lives up to its original title, LOUD. Heard here in conjunction with an EP from the following year and a selection of rare recordings originally released as B-sides and giveaway flexi-discs, its manic energy is in equal proportion to its lack of technical expertise. But this doesn't mean the band lacks focus--in songs such as "If My Father Answers, Don't Say Nothing," the mysterious story plays out against a background of musical chaos that both heightens the drama and effectively sets the scene for teen mayhem.
