Lost Planet: Extreme Condition (Xbox 360, 2007)

Awesome in every aspect! Very challeging and I have the strategy guide as well. Couple of camera issues when scraping but very rare. Music is absolutely awesome especially on a surround sound system. Highly recommended to anyone looking for a great action/adventure game. Great online play as well.

At the end of the day, playing Lost Planet is like dating a supermodel with personality problems: it's great looking and has the potential for good times, but ultimately, it's just not worth the trouble. :)

Gameplay: 10

The gameplay for Lost Planet is great! Through the game to M is that there is no dull moment happening in the game. With the fighting against Akrid, Snow Pirates, and the Neveck forces gives different kinds of foes your a fighting aganist in each of the missions in the game. And you can't forget about the VS that you get to use. They have different kinds of VSs, like one that can fly for a short time, one can turn into a snowmobile, and one that can double jump, but I don't want to name all of them. The weapons are another great thing, because you can use a weapon off a VS! And how you can put different weapons on the VS. And the last thing is that how many bosses you fight! You fight a boss on every mission that you do, instead of a couple of bosses in the game.

Story: 10

The story for the game is a good one. How they made you think that the game was about killing the Akrid that killed Waynes father, but how then they find out about the Project to warm the world. It is just a good story to put into a game like this one right here.

Graphics: 10

The graphics for Lost Planet are frickin' awesome! The characters look great in the cut scenes, the Akrid, Snow Pirates, and Neveck people outfits look great with the 360 graphics. The VSs look great, how the weapons look, and how they fire. The explosions look cool, especially when the VS suits explode. And the smoke effect that happens after the explosion is cool but blinding. Overall great graphics.

Sound: 10

The sound for the game is great. The sound of the VS moving, the sound of snow being walked on. The explosions that happen sound great. Gunfire sounds good. The boosters that you have you get with some VSs sound really cool.

Rent/Buy

I think that you should buy the game if you like to play on Live, because of the matches that you have with friends are fun, and never get boring. But if you don't have Live it would be a rent if you don't want to fork over the $60.

I just purchased this game and instantly fell in love with it. If you are a fan of Capcom games such as Resident Evil or Devil May Cry, then you will love this game too. The controls are simple and the graphics are excellent. This game features huge bosses, snow pirates and tons of different weapons. You can even operate the VS robot suit, which is kind of like ED-209 from Robocop. However, this suit can transform into a sled type vehicle and uses mulitple weapon accossories. This game can also be played as multiplayer matches. The match winners are decided by a battle points system and not just total kills. You can get battle points for capturing nodes, defeating your enemies, and blowing up enemy VS suits. Battle points will be lost if you kill yourself. I can say that this game saved my Xbox 360. I have had my Xbox 360 since they came out and hadn't really used/enjoyed it until I played this game. I say if you don't have this game; you are missing out!!!!

Great game and super game play. Some what of a easy game to follow. It leads you to the bosses without much dead ends or independant level surching. But it is a great game to play and the wepons are over the top fun to use, either on the VS units or on foot. 9 out of 10. Pick this game up.

Lost Planet is disappointing. It's not disappointing because it's a bad game, but because it could've been a great game. It's just frustrating that a bunch of things add up and detract from this game. I don't know where I would put my comments on “Story” and feel that I’ll need the room so I will just say it here. The Story in Lost Planet is bad. It’s hard to follow, and while it has some cool concepts and enticing plotlines, it is just put together horrendously. There is no character development, or really character introduction, and relationships aren’t formed or explained so everything just seems stereotypical or doesn’t make sense. **SPOILER ALERT** An example of this is when you capture this NEVEC bad guy named Joe, then become great friends with him, then he betrays you, and then you are friends again.**SPOILERS END** So just know that the story is forgettable. I definitely missed the intricacies of it, so if you would like to explain it to me, feel free. Anyways, onto the breakdown:

Gameplay: 8/10
Pros: The game is fun to play. There is so much action, the Vital Suits are fun to drive, and it’s just pure carnage and amped up arcade action. There are some real WOW moments where there are literally hundreds of creatures and people in the surrounding areas- definitely some killer and memorable battles. Boss battles are great and “classic.”
Cons: Grappling Hook is basically a stick here and pull me here and while it’s nice to have I wanted a fully functional Bionic Commando or Worms style grappling hook (ninja rope). Controls are a bit quirky and take some time to get used to (can’t look directly up! WTF?), but the most annoying thing about the gameplay is the stumbling, falling animations that stun you and lead to your death or at the very least a large chunk of your Thermal Energy Reserves. Oh yeah, that Thermal Energy thing really takes away from the exploring the world thing.

Graphics: 9.5/10
Pros: By far the strongest aspect of Lost Planet, the visuals are extremely impressive with the best and most realistic smoke I’ve ever seen in a game. The character design as a whole is awesome (love the thermal packs on each human and the pulsing, glowing suit under everyone’s clothes) not to mention the awesome Akrid designs, and Vital Suits. Graphics are just sweet!
Cons: The action can be so intense that you lose your bearings (especially if there’s smoke around or if you’re hit with a rocket). The other problem is that since you’re on a snow world the scenery gets a little tedious (even though there are some lava, and indoor levels to break it up).

Sound/Music: 9/10
Pros: The voice acting is actually pretty good even though the story is poorly put together. It’s a script problem and not an audio problem. The music, gunfire, and Akrid screams all get your blood pumping and going.
Cons: I found it really hard to hear my teammates in-mission dialogue/updates. This is especially annoying since they help direct you where to go and how to defeat enemies, etc.

Lasting Appeal: 5/10
Pros: 2 Multiplayer modes with up to 16 people on Xbox Live is fun. “Target Emblems that spell a word” achievements in each level give the main game some replay value.

Capcom has found success on the XBOX 360 recently, and it is no different with Lost Planet. This game is big, action packed, and has the big bosses that you would expect from the publishers of Resident Evil to have.

The game is fun, and relatively easy to play and master in a short time. The graphics and lighting are visually appealing, and show that Capcom understands the power of the 360.

This game is worth checking out, and enjoying, but it is not the "killer app" for the XBOX 360, or the must have. This title is worth picking up on ebay at a stellar price.

Graphics: Great - 4.5/5
Smooth textures, great mapping, and the smoke effects are great. There are slim to no frame rate issues, and Capcom did a great job with the visuals.

Sound: Great - 4/5
The sound in this game was well thought out and the explosions put you right in the action, though a lot of these effects feel recycled.

Gameplay: Good – 3.5/5
The gameplay is really well done, but the smoke and effects are too much of a distraction. The bosses though, make up for this and are worth going through the long, and sometimes, monotonous rounds to fight. Bonus points go to this game for including, and the ability to jump into the Mech suits.

Replay Value Good – 3.5/5
The single player mode lacks depth, and storyline, making you not want to play through it twice, and the end scenario and closing is weak. The online is fun, but lacks depth, strategy, and is great if you just want to jump in and game.

Overall Good – 3.5/5
The game is only 7-12 hours long on easy or normal, and 15-20 hours long on the hardest difficulty. Definitely worth checking out, though it is like a crush, your feelings for it will fade over time.

When you first start playing this game it goes slow, but after the first couple levels it speeds up. If you like games that take alittle time to beat and keeps you playing for hours this is the game for you. After beating this game I had to play it one more time. I hope that they make more games like this one.

I think the graphics are among the best out. The time spent into the creativity of the world are magnificent! I bought it from just watching the commercials, but am pleasantly suprised by exceeding my expectations. I am looking forward to a sequel. I just hope they make this one a little longer.

This is yet another great game Capcom can add under there nelt with such greats as Resident Evil or Devil May Cry. Set within the merciless frozen tundra of a hostile planet, humans struggle for survival as conflicts arise between man, the surrounding indigenous creatures and the monstrous beings that have invaded.
The controls are easy enough to learn and the graphics are breathe taking. in Game you face huge bosses each level. You will also face snow pirates and be able to choose from lots of different weapons.While fighting menacing invaders during impossible weather conditions throughout vast snow fields and deserted cities will leave your head spinning. Having a real-time loading system, players can expect a seamless experience that leaveing you completely immersed in game with out have to wait for the next level to load. The action stops whnn you stop.

An excellent graphical environment for your XBOX 360. A Must Have to start cool in 2007. The action, sounds, variety in gaming, scenery and heart pumping action will keep your eyes wide open while playing. It has those so-intense-scenes that drives your blood pressure sky-high.

Capcom definitely start with the right foot on the right path this year...

This is a 3rd person shooter game that has some of the best graphics out there. In a frozen enviornment you must take on the hords of aliens and snow pirates to learn about your past. There are many different weapons to cronfront the enemy with, but take care - its very cold oout there.

Bought this game thinking it would be a great shooter. Well I don't know about you but I like to explore games. Lost Planet doesn't let you do that. Everything is TIMED. Felt very rushed. Gave the game to a buddy without saying anything and he had the same complaints about the game as I did. Save your money for anything else!!

The storyline just blows, the graphics are okay, but overall the whole game is repetitive and boring. The whole storyline is just boring. I bought it because it looked like another halo-like game but when i first played it the camera view (3rd) person sucks and the controls are limited. I Do not RECOMMEND this game to any gamer..cuz simply its gay. Not worth the dough..sorry CAPCOM u disappointed me.

Well, not much to say about this one. Its just a plain good game. You can just go around and shoot at aliens, what more could you ask for.

Both my 13 year old son and I love playing this game. It is just "different" enough from other first person shooters to keep it interesting and has a great campaign story line.

Features that may make you NOT purchase:
1. No co-op campaign. It is "almost" a rule in my house that two people play the Xbox at the same time.
2. You need multiple media to let multiple people save their progress. If you only have the hard drive, then only one person can play the campaign. I purchased an external memory card so that I could also play every now and then.
