Lost Planet: Extreme Condition (PC Games, 2007)

First let me tell you I am a computer person. I solve computer problems for a living. My home gaming pc is pretty simple. Pentium 4, 3.0 ghz, Nvidia 6800 GTOC, 2gigs of ram and XP pro. All name brand parts. I have been playing shooter since there have been shooters (purchased doom from ID on floppy). This game is no different. You are the good guy they are the bad guys. Most problems with the game seem to come from DX10/Vista people. Here is a hint. If you have a dual core processor running at 1.8 ghz or less (dont buy this game). Even thought you have 2 processors working on the game they are still only 1.8 each. Forget running it on a laptop. Your hard disk is probably a 5400 rpm and is too slow also.
I usually don't go by the system specs on the box. You should know if you have a slow computer or not. If surfing is slow, writing documents is slow, running simple stuff is slow, then this program will not work.
If you have a higher end system you will love the graphics. I felt like I was in the snow. The now blowing streight toward me (very cool effect). The monsters are reminesant of HL2 in alot of ways. I love the guns and grenades and the sound is top notch.
One complaint is always haveing to work about my health and collecting more. It does make you move in the game. It make me tense, when I am watching my health drain, with now where to recharge in site.
Hope this helps. Oh, I would take a single core P4 3.0 or Athlon 64 4000+ over a dual core 1.7 or 1.8 any day.

Lost planet isn't the best thing around at the moment, but considering that it's now a mere $20 to pick up it's worth it if you have some time to kill and a fast computer begging for something to do. As to the two previous reviewers problems, this game WILL NOT~! run without the absolutly most updated directX versions (will run Dx9 or 10). And it required the most recent nvidia graphics driver to start. With taken care of, this game will make your computer sweat. Gameplay is a bit dissapointing, as the AI of the human characters is almost non existant, save the MECH or as the game calls them VS battles, which doesn't totally kill it because of all the 'akrid' you have to fight, which are mostly large 'insect' looking things that come in huge numbers to hurt you. Turn up the resolution, grab a warm throw and something hot to drink, you'll be walking through a lot of snow and ice...

I tried to get the game to work. It does not work. If I knew who I got it from I would try for a settlment. I wasted a lot of money. This happen on one other program. I am thinking it is not worth saving a little money on ebay. When what you get does not work. I am very unhappy with ebay. Or the bad sellers that rip people off. I am so sorry I did not pay the extra money because now I would have a game that works. I can not see buying another copy after getting beaten the first time. I am left with a sick feeling. I do not know what I can do.

I played the demo to this game, it was great! One of the first next gen games to utilize the whole motion blur and depth of field effect. HOWEVER,,, if you plan on purchasing this game for the PC, MAKE SURE YOU BY FROM A CERTIFIED RETAIL STORE!!!!!! I made the mistake and bought this off of Ebay (pre-used). The game ONLY installs through the STEAM Engine and once that CD-Key has been registered previously, it will NOT work again!!! So now, I'm stuck with a disc that won't install worth a lick, and the seller will not contact me back for whatever reason. Much luck to those who purchase this game NOT brand-new.

This game requires Steam to run, and the account information from the original user. If the original user has other games that require steam, they are not going to give you their user name and password. I try not to buy any Steam games because of this, but I did not realize that this was one. I can't give any kind of review for the game itself because I was never able to play it, so therefore, it gets a poor rating because it was ruined by the steam protection system. This also caused grief for the seller who had to give me a refund for a non usable game and was also out listing, selling, paypal, and shipping fees.

Graphics and game play are very poor, levels are very difficult and there are NO saves. Pc requirements are very high for this level of graphics.

WOW - I had this game initially for the XBOX 360 and picked this up for the PC due to the price of it. I was very impressed. Once you have the game you can download the updated files directly from Steam which allows you to play without the disk. This also gives you the option to play the Direct x9 or Direct x10 version of the game (if you have a DX10 card).

The graphics and gameplay are smooth and I was surprised by the fluid overall movement of the game. The game also detects if the framerate is slowing too much and will alter the graphics settings in-game and then bring you right back in without crashing or forcing you to restart.

On top of that, the game is just a lot of fun to play!

Never purchase this game used...
You must activate and play this online and the key works only once.
Heard the gameplay was nice for a shooter, but did not realize that despite low cost for the disc it cannot play on more than one computer.
Never will I purchase a used online ~STEAM~ product again...

Bought this Item because I bought one about 6 months ago from another ebayer and could not load game because was already reg. with that person. Bought his one and description was exactlly as stated have played the game and is great game.

The graphics on this game are incredible! I bought it because it looked like something he would like to play, but as soon as it came in, I couldn't pull him away from the computer.

I prefer FPS games. This is more a TPS. It's okay, but monotone. The same thing again and again. A Change of senery would've been nice. Different bosses etc. I liked the use of gel energy after kills. Maybe EC 2 will be better.

I bought this game because I love shooters and thought the wintery cold environment would be a fun world to play in. I'm able to run the game maxed out because I have a high-end PC with 64-bit Windows Vista. The game looks pretty nice, but not *as* good as I expected. Also, while it is fun to play, I can to find out this was ported from the console version and you can tell. The control options are not intuitive and worst of all, if you prefer to inverse your Y-axis, as most players do, there is no option for that. Sadly, after a few hours, I still could not get used to playing the other way. The other downside, is I cannot sell this game to anyone else because it requires the Steam engine, and only 1 person can register it. So not only has Steam taken care of pirating (which I'm all for), they have also made it so an honest person can't sell their game to another person when they're done using it (like every other product in the world!) So, this game now sits in on the shelf, I'm out the money I spent, and I haven't played it since.

I decided to buy this item (game) because it was listed as new. The product was unsealed and the CD Key was already in use. Now I have a worthless game, thanks.

Ive seen reviews on here talking about, you have to have this or that before the game will work and bah blah blah. Fact is these people are stupid. All you have to have is a computer that will run and not clogged up with the porn they set up all night searching for. Fact is, I have a Laptop, 1.7 Duo Gig, 2 gig mem, 5400RPM 120 gig hard drive, and 512 mb invidia 7900 GS Graphics card. This game worked perfect on my system. The graphics was awsome. Old school firt person shooter view was great, reminded me of Socom on the PS2. If you have a computer that runs pretty good then this game is totally worth it. Bad reviews annoy me because stupid people ruin a great game for other people. Hope people find this helpful. Great games guys, worth the buy since they are going for about $5 on ebay brand new.

This game is fun with plenty of action. Looks great with DX10. I'm a tad bit late as far as playing this game, but it's still worth playing. The storyline is compelling enough, the game play is crisp and the missions are straightforward.

Graphics big deal!!! if you are running a gaming laptop like me you wanna make sure you graphics card is way above bare minimum so you can play stranglehold or gears. Great game even if you have to make a little sacrifice. It is a game to play if you need entertainment and you do not mind First person shooters that are kind of old school with sweet graphics. I do not need much, so if you just wanna shoot things and make stuff blow-up then get to it. the reason this is a good and not an excellent is the stages are kind of limiting and the constant snowing in the game makes the game difficult to see sometimes.
