This is a wonderful story for those who love Austen and/or Pride and Predudice.
The acting, costumes and scenery were perfect. Mr Darcy walked straignt out of the pages of the book

Very enjoyable, full of new ideas and surprises... Plot points get twisted up with the new character addition and her anticipation of the plot points and that she blabs about it to the characters - which make things not work out the way they are supposed to... Very fun. Shows that all characters are really a mixture of strengths and weaknesses - allowing for some unique plot twists, worthy of Jane and your time.
A couple very tiny not PG moments (two sentences worth in the whole 2.3 hours!) -which happen in British TV - intended to show the difference between modern London girls and Regency women, and the show is great for tweeners just reading Jane... but it is really meant for those of us who would, like the main character, break a date with our boyfriend/husband so we could read Pride and Prejudice in peace and quiet wrapped in a blanket.
Try it, you'll enjoy it.
It's only the first 4 episodes, made into a movie - but hopefully there will be more? The story cries for more...

I only saw 2/3 of this, I'm afraid. I caught the 2nd and 3rd nights of this mini-series and it was great. It is the story of a frustrated modern London woman called Amanda, disillusioned with love and mad for Mr. Darcy from her favourite book ever, Pride and Predjudice by Jane Austen. She stumbles upon a portal through which she is transported through time to Elizabeth's house in the reality the novel created while Lizzie pops into the 21st century. Naturally Amanda meets Mr. Darcy and falls hard, all the while trying to hold the story together because it is unravelling fast because Elizabeth isn't there to make it come out the way it was written. Several tongue in cheek scenes emerge which a modern Mr. Darcy lover will appreciate. What's a girl to do? Wonderful cast includes Jemima Rooper as Amanda, Elliot Cowan as Mr. Darcy, Hugh Bonneville as Mr. Bennet, Alex Kingston as an hilarious Mrs. Bennet, a yummy Tom Riley as Mr. Wickham, the gorgeous Gemma Arterton as Elizabeth Bennet, the always wonderful Lindsay Duncan as Lady Catherine De Bourgh. It's more than a time travelling ode to Jane Austen, it examines the clash of mores between women of today and women of the Regency era. It's a romp for fellow Mr Darcy devotees. I'd go through the portal, would you?

The acting was okay - not the best - but somewhat entertaining - not sure I would buy this if I had a chance to see it.

This movie may start out a little slow and seem long at almost 3 hours but when it ended I wanted more. The characters were believable it felt like I had fallen into the book with her. I will watch this again and again. If you like time travel romances and Austen you will fall in love with this movie too! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!

  Loving Lost In Austen
Review created: 10/02/09

My daughter recently discovered Jane Austen, so we spent a month reading and watching Jane Austen movies happened to catch Lost in Austen on Ovation TV. Lost in Austen is a delightful time travel version of Pride and Prejudice. We enjoyed it so much, we purchased the DVD so that we could watch it again. It's cheeky in all the right ways and still touching in the way of the original story line. My only complaint was that they should have made a bigger issue out of her showing up wearing pants and a leather jacket, but all in all - this DVD was delightful and is one of the few we enjoy watching again and again.

The story begins with Amanada in contemporary London where he boyfriend pops a beer tab off the can and ask her to marry him. Romance is not his middle name, nor is it Darcy. Elizabeth Bennett finds herself in Amanada's bathtub after passing through a locked second floor door on an exterior wall. Amanda peeks in to see where she came from and finds herself locked in Elizabeth's home mere days from he ball where Elizabeth is destined to meet Mr. Darcy.

Everything Amanada touches goes wonky. Each character is altered - only some for the better (Wickham was the biggest surprise). I found myself frustrated right along with Amanda as she tried to set the story right and actually found each of the characters interestingly more likable in spite of or perhaps because of their transformations.

We still love the original, but this one was definately worth watching.

  Lost in Austen

It meets Zoltan's expectations. GOOOD movie......... The movie is telling a story about a chick going into the Pride And Predjudice story originally written by Jane Austen. It is a rather accurate interpretation of the book and its characters, but the girl who finds herself in the story seems to be drawing all the attention towards herself. Especially from all the men folk that were supposedly in like with Elizabeth Bennett.
Great tale!

  A most propitious acquisition!

A most adroit and perspicacious reinvention of Jane Austen. A more comely and splendid cast of players cannot be found in all of Britain. Jemima Rooper is lovely, Christina Cole is very beautiful and Elliot Cowan, what a hunk! The mise en scene is extraordinary with marvelous production values. This is a delight that is increased with repeated viewings. Once you have made your felicitous purchase of this film please endeavour to seek out on You Tube an excised sequence which will greatly enhance your enjoyment. It's most lol amusing!

I loved the different spin to an old classic. At times I thought I would not like it then again I would. I thought I would hate the ending if it turned out to be different from the original but it turned out I did'nt hate it.
