Let me start by noting that absolutely no one should buy a strategy guide for a MMORPG thinking that it will be the most complete and updated guide. If you do, you are only setting yourself up for disappointment; that said... this book provides extensive coverage of the classes and tells you how to play LOTRO well at starting levels. The crafting guide is excellent, I am an Artisan Prospector at level 14 and this book played a big role in getting me there. It answers oh so many questions... loved the detailed maps it provided. Also its printed in full color on high quality paper so you know they did not try cutting corners with this thing. The book lists abilities for each class, stats on crafted armor, and expert strategy from The Syndicate. Overall, I did find this book to be very informative... it provided me a sound base for playing LOTRO.

Printed Guides for MMOs are pretty useless, and are quickly outdated by the first patch. This one is not much of an exception--furthermore, splitting the guide into 2 seperate books is a poor excuse for more sales. I would only recommend this to completists who just want to read everything LOTRO-related, but everyone else can find better information online.

I bought this book because I had hesitated to buy similar books for other MMOs in the past, much to my dismay. This book is full of usefull information and answered many questions I was dying to ask people in game. I'm not a big fan of MMO message boards, and trying to find a thread that is 9 months old about a quest or way to spec your character is a waste of time. Buy this book, and you will have all your answers. The format of the book is great, it's well planned out. From start to end. It's an easy read as well. Maximize your play time!
