The Lord of the Rings Online: Shadows of Angmar (PC Games, 2007)

Well i am playing this game and everything is nice, the only thing i dislike is how you are just a side character. You dont get to fight Urak-hai or Trolls. So if thats what your thinking no. You get silly missions to go fight wolves or spider. Maybe a street gang. Until later levels. Decent graphics.

Straight to the point.. if you like World of Warcraft then you will like this game.

For those of you who enjoyed the hit game world of warcraft this will be a very easy transition. Lord of the Rings Online (LOTRO) uses the basic interface that World of Warcaft (WoW) uses with a few twists. I will list several pro's and con's.

THE GOOD:

1. Leveling is not annoying
2. Graphics are beautiful
3. Gathering money is simple and the overall Economy of the game is advantageous to the user.
4. Classes are balanced and each has its obvious pro's and con's
5. Crafting professions as well as leveling them is made simple and easy.
6. GREAT STORY LINE!!!! (Lord of the Rings storyline <-- books not necessarily movie)
7. Community is Super Friendly and Mature

Con's

1. Soundtrack of the game is not too hot.
2. Game starts off a little slow



In the end this is definitely one of the hottest games on the market and probably my favorite MMORPG. A+.... 5 stars.

I have been using a trial version of this game so far and am very impressed. It seems you can do a lot of different things in it. It is a really good game and carries very nice graphics. It also seems pretty realistic (as if you were in the lotr world). Give it a try its a good game.

A pretty good game, with a good community, and good game play. A cheaper, and "less intense" alternative to World of Warcraft.

What a relief to see a MMORPG that actually contends with WoW and surpasses it in so many ways. I am so greatly I started playing this game. Its story line is full of Tolkien lore and if your a fan of LOTR series or fantasy itself you'll love the atmosphere this game brings. The players on the game are much more supportive and not a bunch of 10 years old that seemed to plague WoW. Just do yourself a favor and cancel that WoW subscription and go get LOTRO!

The packaging was still sealed and the key was unused, which was my only real concern. I ended up with a copy of LOTRO for half the price. Excellent! It's a great game by the way:)

After winning both Best Overall Game and Best Overall expansion in 2008 by reader's choice, AND taking home the favorite MMO studio award, one would certainly think there must be something to this game. Favoring content over style (but not neglecting style, mind you), Lord of the Rings Online (Lotro as it called), is far ahead of the cusp of most MMO games. Choose to play a dward, a human, a hobbit, an elf, and then choose from one of 9 playable classes. This isn't to mention the other things your characters earn to make the game more interesting: traits, professions, deeds, legendary weapons,monster-questing as one of Sauron's many creatures, and the truest form of flattery: playing a game based in the steeped history of Middle Earth. It bears some likeless to other MMO's, but is very different and in quite a few ways. It's worth playing if you're either a MMO fan, a lord of the rings fan, or both. Don't shirk this game just because you're addicted to WoW or EQ2 or don't think you don't have the time. Totally worth it.

A wanna be world of warcraft. Hardly anything new , only thing good brought to this game is the LOTR license.
