It's time for another collection of zaniness from those characters over at Warner Brothers. This four disc set boasts 60 fun-filled cartoons, but actually has a few more as bonuses.
The overall theme to this collection is Patriotism and it has many war cartoons. Disc 1 is "Looney Tunes Allstars" and features 15 cartoons with 2 bonus TV Specials: Bugs Bunny in King Arthurs Court and Daffy Duck's Easter Egg-Citement. There are also 4 bonus shorts.
Disc 2 is entitled "Patriotic Pals" and features 15 great war-time cartoons that poke fun at Hitler and the Russians. There's a Friz Freleng shorts gallery and 3 more bonus shorts.
Disc 3 is entittled: "Bosko, Buddy & Merrie Melodies" and has some of the oldest black & white shorts. Also features four specials and 4 more bonus shorts.
Disc 4 is entitled "Most-requested assorted nuts & one-shots". The title sort of says it all. There is a great documentary on this disc of Mel Blanc, the voice behind the characters. Disc also includes 4 more bonus shorts.
So you get a whopping 75 total shorts on this collection with the 15 bonuses!!
From what I have been reading around the DVD forums, this is going to be Warner's last release of this type set. After six volumes they are calling it quits. They do not plan on releasing a volume 7 in this format, but may release some smaller sets.
For your money, this is an outstanding set. 75 laugh-a-minute shorts that were previously unavailable on DVD.
I would recommend this set to anyone *****
