If you like Looney Tunes, you'll love this movie
) First of all, my VHS copy of this movie came from a closeout store and not Ebay. But for those of you who love Looney Tunes, this movie is a good buy whether you get it on VHS or DVD. If you are like me, you are looking for a return to the Saturday mornings and matinee theatre shorts of your youth, when Bugs Bunny and his friends had their hour long television show and "Merrie Melodies" brought the wonderful Warner Brothers cartoons to the movie matinee screens.
"Back in Action" delivers Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Marvin the Martian and the Tasmanian Devil in full doses of big glory. The other Warners characters, such as Porky Pig and Speedy Gonzales, also make nice cameos.
They share the screen with Brendan Fraser and Jenna Elfman. Mr. Fraser is an actor who gives his all to each project he has ever been in and in this one, he seems to have been directed to be subdued and low key. It is the Warner cartoon characters film, after all! Ms. Elfman was a nice choice to play the female human lead. Her expressive face and light-hearted manner (even when trying to be serious) works well in the cartoon universe.
So what if the plot is a little convoluted? So what if the action is a little overly frenetic and contains a few Hollywood jokes. How many of you ever watched a Warner Brothers cartoon for the plot?
