Album Notes Personnel includes: Rick Trevino (vocals); Mark Casstevens, John Willis (acoustic guitar); Brent Rowen (guitar); Sonny Garish, Paul Franklin (steel guitar); Blaine Sprouse (fiddle); Joey Miskulin (accordion); Steve Nathan, Pig Robbins (piano); Michael Rhodes, Larry Marrs (bass); Eddie Bayers, Steve Turner (drums); Dennis Wilson, Tim Mensy, Mary Ann Kennedy, John Wesley Ryles (background vocals). Rick Trevino's music is not dissimilar to that of his idols George Strait and Garth Brooks. The Tex-Mex star's ballads are heartfelt--like "You Are To Me," a sentimental declaration of love, and the tearjerking "The Pain." The title track is a stirring song about the life-long relationship between mother and child, and it is as heart-tugging as Patty Loveless' "How Can I Help You Say Goodbye," effectively displaying a vocalist who can extract emotion out of every word. Yet, LOOKING FOR THE LIGHT also succeeds because of a fresh mix of material. The strong ballads, powered by Trevino's zealous vocals, are intercut by honky-tonk piano and fiddle-driven, boot-stompin' dance floor hits like "Poor, Broke, Mixed Up Mess Of A Heart." And Trevino's true triumph is that he makes this material sound so believable.
