Long Way Round: The Ultimate Road Trip (DVD, 2005, 2-Disc Set)

There are two versions of the DVD: a 2-disk version and a three disk version. The 2 disk version is a little shorter on the travels, particularly towards the end of the journey in the USA. The 3 disk version spends almost an extra hour in the US and has a documentary made a year after Charlie and Ewan (you'll be on first name terms with them after you watch the show too) reached New York.

Worth getting for yourself or for anyone who likes motorcycles.

Overall this was a good documentary about to blokes riding bikes around the world. What has to be remembered is that they had an ulimited budget to do this and all the support they needed was right behind them. No matter how you look at it this was a great journey, and I think most people interested in this type of motorcycling will really enjoy the total encompassing effect. A little less on the personal diaries and more scenery would have made this 5 stars all the way. But if you really want the definitive rife of a life time from just plain ordinary blokes, get the "MONDO ENDURO" DVD and sit back and have a real hoot about one of the ultimate real trips around the world, unsponsored and out of pocket.

Excellent movie!! We rented it on netflix and had to own it. Great movie for the moto lovers and anyone who just loves and adventure. Those guys encountered everything!!

This documentary about two friends who set to go around the world it's amazing, the places they ride thru, the vistas and the reason for the trip to be. Even if you are not a motorcycle enthusiast, the film will make you want to get up and go for an adventure of some sorts. We all love to travel, but these two friends do it in a way that is not conventional.
My only critique is that the film is so interesting I wish it was a lot longer.
Left me wishing I had the resources and time to do something similar.

It was in perfect condition and arrived promptly. I was hooked from the moment I started watching. The cultures shown in this movie are eye openning and the emotions expressed by these two amazing actors will have anyone moved.

For a person who love to tour around the world on their bike but can't afford 3 months off work, this is for you. I enjoy watching it just to see the different cultures. A proud part of my DVD collection, it has been loaned out many times by friends.

I loved everything about it, maybe some more footage about the trip, and how much did it cost?, Info that adventurers around the globe can use for future reference, as places they recomend, or where to stop, how much fuel to carry, those sort of things

I originally bought this movie for my dad, but once I saw it (I'm an 18 year old female) I was hooked. I watched it all night and all morning! As did my dad, my brother, my mom and my cousins! There is something in it for everyone and it's great to see big name actors on a more personal level. I would recommend this to anyone (except little kids because they tend to swear a lot).

If only I had the money and time to do what Borman and McGregor did. This is well worth the hours of viewing time invested. Beats the sit-coms any day. If you're a touring motorcyclist you, especially, cannot miss this one.

Excellent true story and what an adventure these guys accomplished. I watched this dvd twice and it get better everytime.

This is a Brilliant DVD well worth Buying.. You get to watch Ewan Mcgregor and Charley Boorman plan the trip and watch the whole journey. You get to see some interesting Historical places. I bought the 3 disc extended DVD set and you get to see unseen footage and interviews. BRILLIANT !!! What both these men done was FANTASTIC and of course Ewan McGregor is involved in so many Childrens Charities and has now become involved with so much more since taking this trip. Wonderful Man !!!! BIG HEART !!!! Can't wait for the next trip :-)It was an enjoyment to watch these two Family men take this trip and why, They go through some fun times and hard times very interesting and enjoyable.....Recommended

"Long Way Round" is a documentary of Ewan McGregor and Charley Boorman's 100+ day motorcycle trip from London to New York. Their trip is so interesting and enjoyable to watch, mostly because Ewan and Charley are excited to meet new people and are respectful of the different cultures they encounter. Most amazing is the kindness and helpfulness of the strangers Ewan and Charley meet along the way. Nevermind the incredible obstacles (language barriers, non-existing roads, physical injuries, difficult border crossings, etc.), Ewan and Charley make this a trip to remember! Please note there are two DVD versions of "Long Way Round." I prefer the 2005 2-disk version, which is the one televised originally. The later released 3-disk version uses different music, has much more added footage, and in my opinion, loses the charm of the original program.

This is reality at its very best, not the schlock we are fed every evening by the network executives. This series deals with the highs and lows of friends hoping to capture for our entertainment what the average couch potato can only dream about and maybe just maybe get one or two off their fat bums and participate in an adventure of a lifetime, if only to the coast on a second hand scooter. We are taken on an adventure testing and rewarding body, mind, and spirit. We have access to trials and tribulations that tests the mettle of true friendship and is forged ever stronger as each mile, every corner, meeting of new friends, samplings of new cultures, and dining with those who are not so different than we are. This is the BEST travelogue I have ever seen and a must see for anyone who longs for the open road to unlimited freedom.

When I first played this DVD, it was completely corrupted in places and was very frustrating to watch. Finally, I gave up. When I looked at the back of this DVD, it clearly looked used and abused. I contacted Jambomedia and told them how disappointed I was. Even though I was dissatisfied with the DVD, I was very impressed with how quickly the company responded to me and the excellent service they gave me. I returned the DVD and got a full refund...along with many apologies. I will buy from them again simply because they offered such excellent service recovery.

I bought this dvd because me and my husband ride motorcycles and saw Ewan Mcgregor telling about it at Jay Leno's Tonight show.This was actually very good and when we watch it we could not wait to watch the second dvd and finished watching it the same day. I even took it overseas with me and watch it again in the airplane with my portable dvd, instead of watching the movies they are showing in the airplane during my long trip.This is what I call the iron butt of all motorcycling.

I love the story of Long Way Round. I think anyone can relate. It is more about life - than a motorcycle trip.

I heard from a friend that Ewan McGregor and his pal Charlie would be riding motorcycles around the world and I was intrigued. When I watched the journey I was hooked and could not wait for the next episode! Now that the series is on DVD I recommend that anyone who has not yet watched it get it! It is filled with laughs and touching moments. You'll be exposed to the raw beauty of the journey!

I saw bits and pieces of this show on cable. Finally decided to buy it. I meant to sit down and watch an episode or two at a time. Would up watching whole thing at once! Very inspiring and would highly recommend.

I purchased this DVD from "mediacrazy", they are the most unprofessional sellers on eBay. I used my PayPal account for this transaction...but NEVER RECEIVED THE DVD. Mediacrazy did not answer any of my eMails. I had to ENTER A CLAIM AGAINST MEDIACRAZY FOR ITEM NOT RECEIVED....mediacrazy FINALLY REFUNDED MY MONEY.

I purchased "Long Way Round" from another source. This DVD is amazing.I'm an adventure motorcyclist who recently spent 30 days touring Mexico, I'm in the process of producing a DVD of my trip.

"Long Way Round" is inspiring with a humorous touch. Ewan and Charley are great blokes.

I really enjoyed this 7-part series on DVD. The chemistry and comraderie between Charlie Boorman and Ewan McGregor was very moving. You do not have to be a motorcycle fan to enjoy this story. Their story is about a group of people who set out to do something incredible; and did it. The motorcycles are just the icing on the cake. I highly recommend this DVD. Shame on KTM for not backing this expedition and kudos to BMW for lending their support (see part one for an explanantion).

If you are a biker and have an adventurous spirit then this is a must have video. These two guys experience things that the average joe could only hope for in his or her lifetime
