Remote is good, but Logitech support is not.

I have 6 Logitech Harmony remotes and I have to say all have been great to use. The software is cumbersome, but once you get the hang of it and gone through it a couple of times setup is a cinch.
The reason I give the Harmony 890 an average has little to do with the remote and more to do with Logitech customer service. If you look at forums that cover the Harmony 890, you will quickly see that these remotes are prone to defects, especially with the LCD and the keypad. The problem with this is Logitech will not replace these remote (after the 1 year warranty), nor offers a repair option.
My experience was my remote was 17 months when the LCD failed. I called Logitech and was told by a tech that there has been quite a few LCD failures, but since it was out of the warranty period that they could not replace and do not offer a repair option. Instead what they did offer was 50% of my next remote order from Logitech, which would still cost $150 after the discount.
So to sum it up the real issue is Logitech is aware there is a common problem with the LCDs and keypads failing, but do not stand by their product enough to say we know we have a problem and we are going to make it right.
