Logitech Harmony® 670 LCD Remote Control

Very easy set up and easy to use. Individual buttons can be programmed to operate and function various tasks. Works with HD DVR receiver, along with all my other components, just fine. I don't know why I waited so long to get this remote. I liked its ease of use and functionality so much that I bought more for throughout the house.

This remote was a refurb that I purchased, mainly to work with TIVO and everything else in our home entertainment center. Had it for about a month, and my wife dropped it on the tile floor and wouldn't work right, and reprogramming wouldn't work or replacing the batteries. I took it apart, and put it back together and it worked fine, apparently the battery contacts got out of whack, the battery compartment isn't soldered to the PCB, and once it was reseated after taking it apart it worked fine. Not much to go wrong, the PCB is one piece and it seems to be pretty durable in the case. So if goes wacky after dropping, remove the four screws, take it apart, and pop it back together to reseat the contacts onto the PCB. Somewhat of a poor design on the battery compartment
Good remote, I had to customize it a little through the software, but overall a good product for the price I paid.
Would give it an excellent except for the design flaw on the battery compartment.

These are so easy to program and their customer service (Americans) as available to help and follow-up when they say they will. I've yet to find anything I can't do with these (except I don't think they do RF - but I don't need RF). Their signal is stronger than all of the original remotes I have so I don't even have to lift it up to have the receiver get the signal.

Pros: One remote to rule them all!
Cons: Once I understood the power of the Logitech approach to the activity control and remote configuration - I was a bit disappointed by some inflexibility it its setup. Or, perhaps, I just haven't learned all the options yet. Also I wish there was more description in the manual or help that explained the overall functionality of the remote - it took me quite some time to figure out how chosen devices and activities correlate to the programmable buttons on the LCD screen. Once you understand the philosophy of its design - you can set the thing up in minutes, but if you are a new user - expect to spend several hours fine-tuning this remote to your liking.

Overall - I am very happy, after some initial frustration. :) I can now push 1 button that turns on bluray player, sound system, movie projector and dims the lights in the room. Push the other button, it turns off the projector, the sound system, turns on the TV and lights, push third button and it sets everything up to play Wii. It does not control Wii though, you have to use Wiimotes to turn Wii on and off. And every time it shows me my favorite buttons on the LCD screen that I want to be readily available to me for that particular activity. You can program 6 button on that screen but you have 6 virtual pages in there, so you can have up to 36 buttons preset for each activity in addition to standard buttons on the remote itself.

In other words - I do recommend this product if you are more or less technically savvy and do not mind spending few hours tinkering with the setup.

Very easy to setup, took 3-5 minutes after you take the model numbers off the front of your equipments. Activity based concept allows for one button operation. After initial setup, anyone can operate the A/V without ever knowing how everything is setup/connected. Another great product from Logitech.

this is my first foray into programmable remotes. i never liked the 'universal' remotes that just turned things on & off but didn't do anything beyond basic functions. i bought this after seeing a review on 'parent hacks', and i'm having good luck with it. the software wouldn't load on my mac, so i used a pc i have access to, and that worked fine. after a couple of days, i wanted to put in 'sleep' on the tv and 'replay' on the dvd - this was easier than i thought but took a long time to figure out. by that i mean that the controls were already programmed in and i just had to move the order they showed up. doing that wasn't hard once i figured out what i was trying to do. so the take-home message here is that this remote takes a bit of tweaking to get set the way you want, and that tweaking takes some fiddling & figuring out, but isn't hard.

Simple but elegant and functional but limited at the same time. Would be great if it was more customizable

Ths remote honestly does it ALL without a doubt.
It is easy to program and update when you get new equipment.
Highly recommend as thiss is the ONLY ONE remote you will need (or want).

I have purchased this remote for my clients that don't want to spend alot of $$$ and it has been a great, positive outcome. I buy them refurbished and have no issues with any of them.

The one great thing about this remote is that the software that comes with it is so well done. When I first got it I thought that it would be a total pain to program. Couldn't have been more wrong. The software was clear and easy to figure out. Tell it what all of your devices are and then set up your macro keys to turn on Television, video, audio, or any combination of devices. Step by step instructions along the way ask pertinent questions about turning on/off devices, input selection, and other settings for each step in the process. There are only 3 macro buttons, plus a fourth that can be used to access a few more with the touch of two buttons instead of one.

There isn't a need for a code book to look up device codes and program them in and try to find the best fit for your dvd, cable box, or amp. If it's been made in the last 6 months chances are good that the Harmony can program it automatically. I didn't have any issues. I think the only ones who may have problems are those that buy off brand. You can look up your hardware online before you buy at Logitech's website. After setting up your devices in the software the only thing left to do is plug in the remote to a USB port on your computer and let the software program it for you. Simple. The acid test is if your wife or Mother-in-law can use it. THEY CAN!

One other big plus. The devices don't always turn on. No problem because all you do is hit the help button on the remote and it will guide you through what is wrong and ask you questions to fix it. Works 100% of the time. Most of the time when something is wrong it is the piece of equipment that is faulty not the remote. There are delay settings because each item has a different response time before it can accept another command and each of these can be tweaked separately. I think this is the best product of its kind on the market.

The best remote ever bought. All you need is just one remote to operate every unit. Easy to program.

I love this remote. I bought a factory refurbished one and it was in perfect condition. I would recommend this product to anyone. Lets anyone visiting or living in your house control all your devices with one remote and it is so easy to use that a child can do it. Only con is that it takes a while to set up, but well worth the time and $.

The Harmony 670 is great for non-techies who have a few components, such as DVD player, cable box, and audio receiver. Even if the person doesn't have an audio receiver for some people who aren't used to switching inputs (i.e. Input V1, Input V2) and are maybe used to putting the TV on channel 3 then turning on their VCR, the Harmony works great. When I worked in the field for a now non-existent electronics retailer, I always sold these to "grandparents" and "wives" who hated having all the different components. The thing that is best about the Harmony 670 specifically is the fact that it has dedicated buttons for "Watch TV" and "Watch DVD" whereas the higher models have these on an everchanging screen. This is great for people without such great eyesight who may memorize the remote or be able to tell which button is which by color. Another great feature is the "glow" on the buttons and the simple fact that the buttons are spread out and not touching one another, it seems that it was really designed for an older person which is really nice for just about anyone. The last reason the Harmony is awesome is because if your friends come over, first they'll be impressed by the Harmony, but they can actually use your TV and not ask you what button to press to change the input and end up confusing your setup.

I love how the remote is easy to use and it helps me eliminate all my other remotes that i use for my electronicsin the past and in the future.

Bought it because of price even though it was a rebuilt one still had manufactures warranty.Got the item shipped quickly and saved about 90.00 dollars or so.

My son highly recommended this brand/style of remote. I'm not 100% used to the remote, and find I frequently have to ask him for instructions on all the functions. Although it does control all my devices, the functions don't always work the way I think they're going to when I press the button! I would purchase again,

The remote was easy to program once I got the correct download software off of Harmony's website. Easy to use and works great so far.

After three weeks, the harmony remote died, it was refurbished and had a thirty day warranty. After some poking, they sent me a UPS label and I shipped it back for a refund.

easy to program. even my old amplifier is on the list. Device is user friendly. Only one remote doing all the works!!

Great deal on the remote, absolulely love the ease of activity programming, once it's programmed. Difficult to program, but after that is done (and Logitech's help earns an A+) - the remote is awesome!

Got this for $45, performs perfectly for my simple needs....watch TV, play DVD's and Cd's and listen to radio through a home stereo system connected to Direct TV satellite box. I interfaced a Samsung 58 in plasma and Blue Ray Player with a Pioneer vsx 01txh receiver and it worked perfectly the first time. The buttons are on the small side and you need to become familiar with button positions, but my wife has accomplished that and loves the one button approach to turning everything on and one button activity selection. Individual remotes are stored away! I couldn't see spending $$$$ to get something a little more impressive that couldn't do a better job for my needs. I particuarly like the Harmony software...very simple and easy to understand and use. This remote should satisfy the majority of individuals looking to simplify their home theater controls.
