The kings of speed metal have never been keen on being labeled, and LOAD, which follows up the 1991 mega-hit METALLICA, is a surprising pastiche of sonic fury. Metallica still rocks hard. James Hetfield's lyrics are still full of venom and anger, and the music still could scare small children. But the band is ready to show off other sides of its craft. "Hero Of The Day" sounds like an R.E.M. song, albeit a heavy one, with its tender beginning and ending confluence of harmonized vocals and catchy guitar riffs. A dose of the blues can be heard in the slow-burning "Bleeding Me," and a downright country twang pervades "Mama Said."
Still, this is a metal album, and there are headbanging riffs o'plenty. LOAD may seem like a departure from the Metallica "norm," but it's actually what the band has been doing all along: writing well-crafted songs without a regard for what others think. The only difference is that the one-time denizens of the underground now have the world's rapt attention.

This cd is a really good cd. I hope to find more like this one in my travels on e-bay. There is a great selection to chose from in good quality cds.

This is a 16th Metallica "Load" CD that i purchased. I buy them for make a gifts for my friends, i buy this albom for myself. I play it a lot, almost everyday, so it became scratched from heavy use & i need to buy new ones.

What way to listen but LOOOUUUUUD and LOOOOOOOONG! Tracks like "King Nothing" "Until It Sleeps" "Hero of the Day," "Ain't My B(oops)tch" need little explanation since they're frequently on the radio. On this one though "Mama Said" is one of my faves. I love the 'ballad' songs. LOVE THEM all, MANDATORY METALLICA, METALLICA RUUU-ULES!"

this is by far the most dynamic metallica album of all time i albsolutly love this album and i would recomend it to any one of my friends or.. even complete strangers its that good! For some far out heavy metal music metallica is where its at and this alubum os surely one of the bands best music.

For Metallica, there job was really hard. Just after coming back from a very huge record, more pressure was put on them for their next on. It is not anything they have made before. This record took on more of an alternative, hard rock feel. Almost all there elements of thrash are completely gone. But the record itself is not that bad. It’s just when it’s from Metallica, they are put on a higher standard than anyone else. It’s worth a listen to, but it will not be there most liked or praised work.

This was the 1st metal album i ever bought(12yrs old) 12 years ago. I have long since lost it and saw it on ebay and said why not? I was very pleased with this purchase. packing was in good shape and plays great.

Load is definately not the best album ever made but hey, it's Metallica so it kicks butt and I needed it to add to my total collection.

Delivered five years after "black" album in 1991, Load captures Metallica settling into an uneasy period of maturation. Under the guidance of producer Bob Rock, Metallica have streamlined their sound, cutting away most of the twisting, unpredictable time signatures and the mind-numbingly fast riffs. They add in Southern boogie rock, country-rock, and power ballads to their bag of tricks, which make them sound like '70s arena rock holdovers. Metallica's idea of opening up their sound is to concentrate on relentless mid-tempo boogie -- over half the album is dedicated to songs that are meant to groove, but they simply don't swing. I like music of Metallica, so I decided to buy Load on eBay.

Nothing really special. It had great songs but for someone looking for heavy metal, this album is not for you.

I have always thought this album was one of the band's finest. Metallica has always proven to be one of heavy metal's greatest bands. I had this album many years ago but I lost it when I moved to my new house. It seems I found it again on Ebay!!! METALLICA ROCKS!!!!!!!!!

Well I bought this on tape, yes I said tape. I listen to the first side over and over but had to skip #6 and #7. Than I would flip it over and listen to #8, #9 and #10, than fast forward so I could listen to the other side again.

I was expecting a lot out of this CD after following the Black Album, but it never happened. Seemed they got softer on some and lost their train of thought on others.

Awesome CD but Metallica then again which CD have they made that isn't great! This CD has some popular hits as well as many not so played treasures.

The only music I've heard of Metallica before this one was the Black Album. I liked it because of the hair-raising guitar solos and the acute sound of classic hard rock. Searching for any other Metallica CD's, I decided on Load.

This CD was, although quite different than the first, a great success for rock fans. There were not nearly as many wild solos, but the group did a marvelous job with newer and more modern guitar sounds, and the vocals were great too.
